|skupples||everyone I know runs inspectre on their intel gaming systems, though most of us don't do anything but game/read on them. a different system is used for work and bills.|

I know this is bad for shared public servers, but have any home users been infected or exploited by any Spectre malware yet? Is the net effect of these mitigations nothing more than performance mitigation on older CPUs?

lol, I bought a 9900KS to replace my P0 9900k to get the hardware mitigations for MDS inherent to the R0 stepping. Now, the day before it's delivered, they announce that an exploit that affects R0, which Intel has known about before they disclosed MDS.
Before I return it, what is the performance impact of disabling TSX?
