At start only Apple with adobe had software for editing etc. As the years passing by, Mac Pro's was great machines a bit overpriced but great hardware and build wise. The last logical priced mac pro was 2 generations before. Atm we use PCs for everything and with the latest Pro prices Apple wrote a goodbye in their tombstone.
Seems to me they forgot who raised their sales all this years and they kicked us hard.
You thing video editing was Apple sales? Wrong, 90% of their sales was to graphic arts and just ignore us.
Well we ignore them to for sure.
For that use case all you need is 2,599$ worth of rig not 52,599$.

Don't mean to psycho you with the pricing. 2,600$.

Also I had a look at a Dell Precision spec'd out similarly to the $52,599 Mac Pro. Yeah, that's $88,775, $36,175 more than the Mac Pro. But wait, it gets better. That's $36,175 more than the Mac Pro, with a $38,425 discount. List price is $127,200. So yeah, getting a Windows machine in this specific case isn't cheaper.
It never is.
Even a Z8 speced like the mac pro will cost about 20K$ more (granted it can go 56 but also adds another cool grand to the mix).

While yes, intel based cost a lot more than AMD, and AMD has epyc 64 core that will cost 7000$ (pretty similar to intel's 28 core one), that would still cost more than mac pro but several tens of thousands of dollars. And there is no promise it will also perform faster because how apple has been optimizing their hardware for years to work best with intel.

People will never understand this.
I still remember how people where laughing at the cMac, how under powered it was, that you will never be able to utilize it, etc. But back than at 2013, it was still the most powerful and the cheapest option for 4 years straight.
This new mac pro will most likely be the standard (and cheapest even if you don't want to believe it) for professional studios for at least I expect a few years forward, and hopefully this time apple will keep it up to date.

Not sure what the jest is about.
If you have millions that you can spend, if you can buy 10 super cars to keep all of them in your garage and use a "simple" car like a pimped out bentley with a driver to go around, buying a 53K$ mac pro just to browse 9gag is most likely not going to bug you much.
If for you as a regular consumer it bugs you, you are most likely just jealous and angry you can't do the same.
If someone is willing to do that, why do you care? It doesn't matter at all. it isn't going to change your life if someone does or doesn't do it. For all I can they can buy a 53K$ machine to actually cheese grade with it for fun at parties.

The mac pro is not your target hardware. It is not meant for graphics artists. It is targeting 3D modelers, heavy video editors, and big studios that need a 28 core workstation computer.

In the past, the mac pro was the answer because software wise and hardware wise there was nothing similar in the market. Now you don't need this type of hardware for your work. You can manage with a much cheaper and less powerful hardware to do your work.

Apple did not lose sales by introducing this mac pro. Because big studios are the target of this. Pixal, dreamworks, epic, etc, those studios are the target of the mac pro.
Your target hardware at most, is the imac pro.
So claiming that they are losing sales is like claiming lamborghini are losing sales by pricing the aventador at 500,000$.

Here is another question.
Do you need (not want, actually real world use need that will really benefit your work) more than 18 core cpu? Do you need more than 256GB of memory? Are you going to really use to the fullest a 28 tflop performing GPUs? Do you more than 4TB of high performance SSD?
If the answer is no, than wth do you need the mac pro for? To grate cheese?

How about this?
Is your current PC that answer all your needs have more than 18 cores? Does it have a huge amount of memory? Do you use big SSDs? Do you replace your hardware ever other week or every few years? Do you have a 4K monitor with P3 colors that has been professionally calibrated at factory? Is your current PC that is best suited for your work, is even anywhere close to on paper raw performance as the mac pro?

The mac pro is not for you. So get over it. Move on.

Pretty much this.
