you're kinda looking at this out of order, and we were talking about CPU usage not GPU usage.

the last generation of consoles allowed much better multicore usage, compared to previously where almost everything was locked down to 1 core.

yes, I fully expect these new consoles, even the low end, to render a giant swatch of gaming PCs "obsolete" by comparison. That's par for the course, and to be expected. It's a good thing in some ways. The example I keep using is them sporting HDMI2.1. This means we'll finally get it on some GPU SKUs, AND we'll start seeing more 2.1 monitors come to market.

moar ram is always nice, but i'd really like FAaAAaaaAaAAAaaaaAAAster ram, without having to buy a titan.

anywhoo, this is off topic, my bad. -

intel = up sharts' creek without a paddle until CORE is dead.

Mrzev 1.4 in 10 years is a joke for sure. This just sounds like marketing writing a proposal for a new design without knowing dates and so they just assumed Mores law. One thing to note is that clock speeds are not listed in this. So, maybe they could make a 1.4nm chip at 500Mhz clock speed. Useless for Desktops, Laptops, games and so on, but would be awesome for embedded systems and other low power devices.

skupples we can only hope, as that's likely who'll be driving my 2021 rebuild.

hope you're enjoying this cool weather as much as we are some of the best weather in the country right now.

The jaguar core were too much of a joke and a departure from bulldozer and zen. Intel's IPC was simply so much better that games tailored to jaguar, could simply run great on Intel from brute force alone - ie. 4 cores and clock speed compared to Jaguar.

With the new consoles sharing the same CPU architecture as AMD's desktop lineup, I would hope we see a good translation in the future.

I hope it extend to 8 years, they deserve to reap at least 8 years of karma for what they done to us in past 8 years.

In fact Intel totally forgot they have CPU department just 3 years ago lol.
What did Intel do to us?

If you are complaining about the lack of cpu use advancement in games, that was Jaguar. Intel sold mainstream users everything they needed and more with little price inflation, and if you felt compelled to upgrade for not a lot of performance increase, that wasn't on Intel. If AMD made a gpu in 2013 that could still max out games in 1440p and up you would call that the best wine ever. Intel does it with a cpu and they are some dastardly villains.

Are you holding a grudge against them because they failed to make 10nm work? If they could and were just sandbagging, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be letting AMD walk all over them in benches. But they are. They could have tossed in double the cores, but the clocks would have suffered and the 4c8t based games wouldn't have done as well. Maybe 6 years later they would start to do better, but that has been 6 good years.

Maybe you should be done with Radeon gpus, power supplies, case, case fan manufacturers...etc because of the same reasons. Cripes, that ugly old beige case still holds a pc. Those wires are still made of copper, fans are practically the same, they've been robbing us.

Buy a Ryzen, they're in stores. If it makes you feel better you could probably take your old pc out to a shooting range when no one else is there and let it have it. Then throw it off your roof and eventually toss it in the fire and lean back with a tasty beverage. Just stay upwind. Not worth holding a grudge that the universe needs to repay suffering with suffering the next 8 years over.

The US has a number of fabs attached to American owned businesses. They aren't high end, but they make various goods for a number of fields. Intel could always fabricate for other companies not requiring bleeding edge complexity.

About 20 years if you want what they did to AMD in the early 2000s and paid a pittance for.
