These RAMS actually did run that, too.

Can't even check if alive because it's 4790k or Ryzen shtuff.

@AMD Y U no run older ddr4 4K B-die?

Not looking to dump $350 to test $200 worth of rams.
My 2600/X470 is pretty good up to 3600 on my Team 4000CL18.....CL14 pretty easy but I run 16 as it's nearly as fast and is less stressful. Lots of settings to get right.....I couldn't have done it without the Ryzen DRAM calc. giving me a guideline.

OP unless you a need crap-ton of PCIE lanes , 3950X is going to be easier to get fast RAM for, and quad channel just doesn't help much in most apps.

Thanks for putting that thought in to my head.
Hi,
3k series is also a heck of a gaming chip got a lot of us Intel boys and girls looking pretty close at it
3950x is also on my radar or 3960x 24 core but the jump in price doesn't make a lot of sense from 3950x 750.us to 3960x 1400.us :/

Schmuckley Get what you can. 16-16-16-16 3600 is what to look for.

Unless it's 16-something 3600+

IamWedge I'll do that Thanks!

I'm set on the Zenith Extreme Alpha motherboard so the 3950 build isn't possible.
Hi,
I'd get with some of the boys and girls on the 20 series amd boards
They seem to be finiky about memory more so than 30 series amd are.

RAM Options.... What to do?

Hi All,
I'm currently working on a new build, it's long overdue. Here's what I'm going to be using just need some ideas.
The Mother board will be:
ASUS ROG Zenith Extreme Alpha X399 HEDT Gaming Motherboard AMD Threadripper 2 (TR4) EATX

Processor:
Ryzen Threadripper 2950X

When i look through the QVL There are limited choices for 8 DIMMs. It's nice the board can support up to 128GB of RAM.
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/m...599.1581106523

There are alot of Quad Channel choices. But does this mean that I could run a Dual Quad channel?
Am I better off just starting with 64GB of Ram? I can afford to get the 128GB so that's not an issue. Id Like to stay in the 3000-3200 MHz range.
Any thoughts You have would be appreciated.
