cdoublejj i've paired mine with a GTX770 and GTA V is VERY playable. grant it i run it at 1600x1200 probably helps but, i't's actually decent res and since it's a CRT it runs at 75hz and has low latency and good colors so that helps.

Marshock Legendary CPU!!!

Had it for such a long time in 2008 and 2009. Remember having Q9550 at 3.8 GHz with Foxconn P35AP-S (best MB of all time). Can't remember the Volts, but it was 475 MHz FSB X8.

What a killer combo that was! I had CF HD3870 and then CF HD4870 to use with this CPU! Those were the best PC OC days of my life!

Nostalgia to see all your CPU OC achievements guys!!!

You have got X38 ASUS P5E3 DELUXE, right?

tRD in your board is called "BOOST LEVEL".

According to ASUS your board has got a "crash free BIOS" system though not 2 different BIOS chips like mine. Good luck.

nice! I still have this board, 2 of them to be exact. I recon i'll run it in to the ground and then install the second board so my grand kids can play bio shock and Doom. lol posting to to book mark for Q9550 overclock passmark memory ram timings

Wish they had a save post function like reddit does.

OdinSon My rig which had the EVGA 780i FTW board and the Q9550 burned up PCIe slot 1 so it is no good actually could of been the card never bothered putting new card in to find out or do any testing. I got near a decade out that rig can't be whining thumb.gif

I still say this Quad is a beast in it's time has to be coolest CPU I have ran under such a large OC and loads.

I was actually debating today whether to buy a new PSU and lower end but good enough for media server GPU and just do a rebuild since that is all I am missing but leaning toward a custom NAS system to stay and keep up to date and give easier functionality.

Got 3 core2's just sitting here well 2 actually homeless atm a E8400 and a Q9550 and a brand new but old 680i SE EVGA board that I just took out of box for first time 3 days ago ha

If I power this 9550 back up I will not be able to overclock it as it will be in a EVGA 680i (SE) board that supports quads but not OC for them. May just finally throw them on ebay to keep the temptation away from spending money when I want a real NAS

But sure do miss it new build is on a i6700k it is a super cool chip too full air here always I tested it on water and blew those water temps out the door by -10C on 2 different blocks

smak420 I need help to OC mine q9550 to 4.0

Question: I try to put my FSB and multiplayer on lowest settings, and put my memory on 943 mhz both with 5-5-5-15, 6-6-6-18 and it pass Memtest, windows memory diagnostic tools, and OCCT large data set (Blend), without errors. I dont get any errors, so that lead me that my 4 memory modulers can run that speed.

But when i set multi 8.5 and FSB to 471, and RAM to 943 can't get my system stabile in stress test.

I try

Vcore - up to 1.4000+
Vtt - up to 1.34
PLL -up to 1.6
Dram -up to 2.15
GTL -? try 0.63 and 0.61 no luck

Common Preformance level -up to 13

no luck

chip is e0 so should be able to push it to 4.0, and it working on 3.7 with 1.275 vcore in bios stabile without problem

Somethimes i got BSOD on 4.0 ghz IRQ not equal (memory), somethimes just error on core 0, 2,3...

not sure what to try to achieve 4.0 ghz

Im using mixed memory modules 2x 2gb corsair XMS2 , 1x kingston cl6 2gb. and kingmax 1gb 800, all together 7gb ram, maby that is an issue, but than why let me pass stress test on memory only...?

EDIT: because P5Q pro lack NB GTL voltages, there is no way to achieve q9550 4.0 or 471 FSB with quad...ah shame, but 3.7 is still good, no bottleneck GPU, working excellent with my GTX 560 ti

smak420 I just finish testing with all 4 slots memory, 7gb ram stabile large data set in OCCT 6 hours at 3.7

max temp is 62C on core

so i feel is quite upgarade, waaay better o.c., small temps, low voltage. BINGO purchase

Nice OC, how long have you had it for? I had mine at 3.6 GHz was stable for a week even with Prime95 and it doesn't work anymore.......

OdinSon Dropped to 3.5 stable also 1:1 cpu/memory ratio

Any ideas why you guys can't pull a 1:1 cpu/mem ratio?

OdinSon I don't in fixing something that is not broke been running my 780i FTW for nearly 10yrs had it OC'd 24/7 with E8600 just grabbed a good cheap Q9550 CO

I don't why you guys can't keep a 1:1 memory ratio on OC 790i is suppose to be the better board for this chip not looking like it, I can use 1.19V and it still runs fine

I pull 1066.7 on my OC for mem FSB in bios is 3800 n/2 ratio enabled and speedstep too as well as vdroop
