This is a bit of a trial run for competitions among the X4 AMD cpu owners in these forums.

As I'm an amateur at setting up such an endeavor, I thought it would be best to run a short competition to begin with, see what I learn and then make any changes necessary before going forward with the next one.
The general Idea is to give the average overclocking enthusiast a chance to compete without being trounced by the big leaguer's that run extreme cooling etc. I'm hoping this will be a low-key good natured competition , fun for the members that don't usually participate. I think it will be a good opportunity for some members to learn how to get a little more oomph out of their system or maybe it will whet someone's appetite for competitive overclocking. On that note I would encourage anyone who is interested to join OCN's hwbot team - I've had a lot of fun particularly in the team cup competitions.

Eligible hardware :
Any AMD quad core cpu. X2 and X3's unlocked to X4's are legal , however native X6 and X8 with disabled cores will not be allowed.

Cooling: No extreme cooling methods allowed - LN2, Dry ice, etc is forbidden. Air cooling and water cooling are allowed. Using cold ambient air or chilled liquid is legal however in the unlimited clockspeed class, proof of core temp during the run of greater than 0C will be required.

Competition features:
Bracket racing with classes for 3 ghz, 4ghz, 4.5 ghz and unlimited maximum clockspeeds.
Participants will be limited to submitting scores for one clockspeed bracket .

Submission requirements:
Cpu-z with cpu and memory tabs open
World clock and windows time/date visible in screenshot.
Competition background found here Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Submissions should be made in this format

Forum name - Bracket - Benchmark - score - cpu - clockspeed

Example:
cssorkinman - Unlimited - Superpi 1M - 19.354 seconds - FX-8370 - 4816 mhz ( just used my 8370 as an example- no it's not legal for comp tongue.gif ) Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

The proof of cpu temp is required for people running in the unlimited clockspeed class. All other clockspeed classes will be required to have a screenshot during the benchmark run with worldclock and cpuz tabs open. ( it was about the only way I could think of to keep people from fudging on clockspeeds lol )

The first round of these competitions will be superpi 1M starting today and running through Sunday February 7th at 7pm central standard time.

I'll probably make a few mistakes along the way, appreciate the effort , go easy on me smile.gif

Good luck and have fun!

Is the world clock an absolute requirement? I ask because my test bench isn't connected to the internet.

1216 - 3 GHz - Superpi 1M - 22.901 seconds - Phenom II x4 920 - 2992 MHz

Be gentle, it's my first time

edit: will update with proper SuperPI version+
edit2: UPDATE
Same score. Although it was slightly lower without as much crap running. But the rules apply to everyone so whatever.
tried 270x11 with the ram at 719 cl4 but the time was identical. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Will edit my comment with the results.
The 4 ghz bracket is for submissions at 4 ghz and below.

I can't think of a way to verify the clockspeed the bench is being ran at without it , which bracket would you be running in?

I think you are a natural at this, you set a wonderful example! The only thing I would ask is that the result dialog box be moved to allow us to see all the iterations.
I ... however made the mistake of not posting the proper version of the benchmark in the op... redface.gif we will be running the version currently being used on HWBOT which is 1.5 I believe.
Here is a link to the download page * I will add it to the op* please accept my apologies, I didn't realize they had a newer version.

I'm VERY encouraged by the amount of interest thumb.gif

Any version of SuperPi?  The usual standard is to use 1.55, I think that the newest version doesn't compare well to the older ones.  (One is faster/slower than other, can't remember which way)

EDIT: Ninja'd by the AMD Master :h34r-smi

My mistake , one of many to come I'm sure. I didn't realize they had an update to it .

I appreciate you keeping an eye on me. For those who don't know, Rasparthe has been a great coach and resource ( among others) for people trying their hand at competitive benching here at OCN.

Nothing to worry about, and not keeping an eye on you can't wait to see how this goes, I have a 965 here that hasn't been fired up in quite some time!  Probably getting lonely in the closet. :thumb:
