To cut a long story short I really need to get a desktop computer for study and music production. I've been stuck on a Atom netbook for the last several years and it makes EVERYTHING a living hell, trust me when I say I need to get a new PC ASAP.

But I'm not sure what my best options are. Basically what I need is a cheap desktop that

Has Windows 10
The ability to handle multiple programs and web pages with ease.
A video card that can output 1080P @60HZ though HDMI instead of DVI
And a sound card that can handle FL Studio with no problems.

I just need the bare minimum for that and I was wondering if there's a desktop on the market that fits all those requirements for the best price,

I have a couple of PCs I don't need so I was thinking about selling them. They are not the fastest, but they are tweaked for performance. I don't remember the particulars of the video situation and I don't know much about your sound card need (they both have sounds but I don't know if they are good enough). If you fill me in for more info on the sound card, I am sure I can make it happen for you. If you are interested, let me know. I will try to meet your budget. smile.gif

Large FL Studio projects benefit from a decent CPU (i5/i7) and unless you want to use a multi-screen setup, the iGPU should be sufficient.
A SSD drive is always advisable for overall system performance and 16GB RAM would be good.
For music production you should get a ASIO/ASIO2 audio-interface. I don't know your exact needs and am also not well versed with them.

In the end It really depends on your budget and how complex your projects are.

I don't know if there are good price-performance All-in-One dekstops, because I never bothered with them.
That would be a good build you could consider if your budget allows it:

Intel Core i7-6700K CPU ~$340
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler ~$30
Asus Z170-A Motherboard ~$150
2x8GB G.Skill TridentZ DDR4-3200 RAM ~$90
250GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD ~ $100
2TB WD Green Hard Drive ~$95
550W EVGA SuperNOVA G2 PSU ~$85
Corsair Carbide Series 200R Case ~$60
Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit ~$100
ESI [email protected] XTe PCIe Audio Interface ~$240

Total: ~$1290

I know, that's far away from cheap, but it's future-proof for several years.
As I said, for the audio interface you should know what your needs are.

Ah yes, I do want to build my own custom super PC that will last 10 years at some point but I do need to get a PC that can keep up with what I'm doing that will last at least a year ASAP since the the next year will be nothing but intense study and $1000+ is just too much.
,
For music, I probably won't be trying anything too advance at first anyway, the ability to have a basic melody, bass, drums and one or two things extra without the sound crackling or CPU slowing down would be enough.

Also thanks for the info.

you could tyr to get an used 4770k/4790k on a z87/z97 mobo or a i7 3930k/e5 1650 (v2) and x79 but if it is too expensive than eithe ran i7 2600k/3770k on z77/z68 or a FX 83xx on 970/990 chipset

If you want, I can get you some thing of under $150 or under $250. The downside, the $150 one is a bit slower because it is 1st gen i5, and the $250 one is HP 3rd gen i5 so it is low profile (no room for a video card).

Ok thanks everyone, but it turns out my study isn't quite what I was expecting, so I guess I could hold of on getting a PC until I can get one that really goes the mile.
