Site Speed Assessment: Your thoughts
With a view to improving the sites performance so far as page loading speed, we would love your input. We have found that in some places geographically a website will perform better over another location due to various factors. However I have seen a good few complaints as to the speed of the site and I myself have also found the performance to be degraded at times. For obvious reasons I am looking to make sure the site is as responsive as we can get it, as such I have put up a poll to get a general consensus as to how the members feel about the overall speed performance on the site, with this information we can then look at what we can do to improve the experience.
For those that find site performance to be degraded only at certain points, please include the following in a post and use the below online diagnostic tool.
1. Your country.
2. Approx time frame of degraded performance.
3. Browser kind and version used.
4. Browse to UPTRENDS
5.Enter ''Overclock.net'' into the ''I want to test field''
6. Select the appropropriate options for Screen Size & Browser Type & Server Location (That best suits your geographical location)
7. After the test has completed please supply us with screenshots. Please see below the screenshots we require for the best diagnosis.
Please be sure to expand the ''High'' & ''Medium'' items to reveal all the details.
While this takes a little extra of your time, this will help us diagnose and squash as many site loading issues as possible making your browsing experience a lot smoother.
Please note that we will not be discussing any site bugs in this thread, this is solely in the interest of gathering information for site responsiveness. For any bugs found please see the Punch List, if not listed then please report HERE
Mobile is dodgy all the time on wifi or 4G/LTE for me. A lot of times I have to refresh a couple times to get everything to load properly.
Bermuda, Chrome 67.0.3396.87, Android 6.0.1.
Slower all the time.
Firefox newest version.
I've got 450MBps Comcast service. OS is Win10 Pro 1803, freshly installed about a week ago. Will be testing with other browsers and on Linux when I get home from work to see if that makes a difference.
Fyi, you can also use a visual traceroute tool to help locate any potential bottlenecks. An example follows of the hops taken from my router to Google's cloud (where OCN is hosted):
Note: If a packet is not acknowledged within the expected timeout, an asterisk will be displayed in the traceroute results.
You can also use (e.g.) the dev tools in Chrome, Firefox and other browsers to note network related issues associated with what comprises a page in a site:
1 - USA
2 - 24/7?
3 - Opera 55.0 Beta
Ever since the migration the site feels slow and I often get "Page is not Responding" timeouts/errors or the site just doesn't load past the top banner. It's gotten noticeably worse the past few weeks.
The above also happens sporadically for me on desktop as well in Win 10. Cross multiple versions of Chrome, also happens in Edge.
Thanks for the info thus far.
2. since, well the migration. there are good times/visits but they seem less and less.
3. always updated chrome, opera, firefox and IE (win7).
i bothered to log in just to vote. the site lag is one of the main issues why i haven't logged in in ~month and move my bookmark to another, less visited, folder.
nice to see the lag get recognized.
I'm using the latest version of chrome and the site is performing great on my end. Fast, responsive and no lag. I was also browsing this site on android using chrome browser today no issues.
