Embedded videos not working?

At least the entire last page (all I checked honestly) of "the currently listening to" thread isn't working ... embedded videos end up saying the video doesn't exist. Seems to work fine in some places and not work in others.

Am I dumb or is something broken?

Firefox with no blockers enabled gets the same.

From the dev console: Mixed Content: The page at 'https://www.overclock.net/forum/241-music/58199-currently-listening-thread-525.html' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure plugin resource 'http://www.youtube.com/embed/k4sYn7VxR8g?ap=%2526fmt%3D18&fs=1'. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS.

That's likely why the videos aren't showing up.

Looks like the "https" issue has been partially addressed:

Have the devs focus on what I'm assumming is the api in use on OCN that's supposed to be displaying the video as an embedded element in an iframe.

Hi,
I just dropped this one and it works

Yeah, the freshly added one works fine. Could be they made changes that borked the code for the older videos (see the screen cap in my previous post for an example of that; why that link is now a redirect is also a good question).

Edited (running my own test):

This is how the code should look:

Anyway, what's strange regarding the broken videos in the other thread is that some of them are properly coded on the last page, and some are not (see the last page of that thread). If it were me, the first thing I'd do is have a look at the code in the MySQL table for a few of the questionable posts (e.g., look for those redirects instead of embed codes), and if I found they were written the way I illustrated in my first post above, I'd then try to figure out why (e.g., were global changes attempted somehow, either using some sort of tool or by way of direct modifications to the dbase; are there one or more SELECT or other statements in the scripts causing the issue, etc.).

Just looked into this and all the video's seem to be working. Even the ones from the first page (2017)

It may now be a wip (work by the devs in progress ), as it's still happening in Chrome and Firefox at the moment for me:

Attachment 226436

Could be related to the missing Avatar issue you commented on earlier today.

Note: caches are fully flushed, and disabling ad, coin, and malware blockers doesn't make a difference.

Edited: added messages from Firefox's dev console:

Code:

Rewriting old-style YouTube Flash embed (http://www.youtube.com/v/HyACsgDB-xw&ap=%2526fmt%3D18&fs=1) to iframe embed (http://www.youtube.com/embed/HyACsgDB-xw?ap=%2526fmt%3D18&fs=1). Params were unsupported by iframe embeds and converted. Please update page to use iframe
instead of embed/object, if possible. 58199-currently-listening-thread-418.html

Content Security Policy: Upgrading insecure request ‘http://www.youtube.com/embed/HyACsgDB-xw?ap=%2526fmt%3D18&fs=1’ to use ‘https’

Btw, VS may want to hussle on this one if they don't want to experience another data breach. There's a reason the move to iframes was made (flash is full of security holes).

Same here with Opera. Disabled all my extensions and still an issue. Even using UA Spoofer to switch between Opera/Chrome/Firefox doesn't change anything (not that it should ... it just changes the UA).

The two posted in this thread do work so that's kinda neat :o

All working fine in FF (63.0) for me, Vanilla with no addons etc & Chrome 69.0.3497.100

Likely because the newest links were written to the database properly; while the data for the older links in the database was never updated (or the older, working links were overwritten by a database restoration using the older data). If Youtube's id numbers for the videos haven't changed, a savvy dev might be able to apply fixes globally. If they have changed, each of those links would likely have to be researched individually and updated.
