Thermaltake Armor Revo: install PSU external to case?
From the bolt hole pattern it looks like a PSU could just as easily be installed outside the case as inside. The advantage of this is that I'd be able to mount another 120mm intake fan in the floor of my case to get more filtered intake. I almost never move my case so the only real downside I can see to this is that I'd have shorter internal cable lengths and I'd have to install a filter on my PSU fan. Anyone see any other potential problems to this idea?
I'd like to buy another case, but I can't see going through all the trouble of doing an x-99, 5820k motherboard transplant at this point in its obsolete existence.
If you're doing it just for fun and are absolutely sure you won't move your computer I don't see too much of a downside. I've mounted power supplies on plastic tables before. If you have a decent thing to blow out dust and aren't lazy blowing it out wouldn't be too hard depending on the PSU. I didn't check your rigs so I dunno and I'm already typing. Be careful if you have 'exposed enough' fans on the PSU and a cat though, they can be like kids that wanna stick their hand in the fan.
