9900K delid overcloking at 5.2ghz or 5.3... What you think about those settings ?

Hi

i delid and make an direct die more of 1 month ago on my 9900K who is runing actualy at 5.2ghz - 1.27v or even 5.3 with more voltage but not stable....
i use AIDA64 Extreme to test stabitity.

I think is just because i dont put the right settings on the bios of my Asus Maximus XI Extreme (last bios 0602)... I have limited knowledge on overcloking. i make an mix of what i found on different youtube videos about this motherboard and this cpu...

(the memory : i dont know if it is right to do that but like you can see on the screenshot i put only 3200mhz with 1.40v to be sure i will get no issue from the memory when i oc my 9900K)

Can you provide me some advice to make better bios settings to OC at 5.3ghz ? some tests to follow ?

My setup :

- Intel i9 9900K
- Asus Maximus XI Extreme (Z390, last bios 0602)
- G.Skill 32GB DDR4 4x 8gb 4266MHz 17-18-18-38 @1.45volts (g.skill ref: F4-4266C17Q-32GTZR)
(the memory : i dont know if it is right to do that but like you can see on the screenshot i put only 3200mhz with 1.40v to be sure i will get no issue from the memory when i oc my 9900K)
- 1x NVMe Drive only (no sata or other hard drive)
- EVGA 2080 Ti
- sound card Asus ROG Xonar Phoebus
- Enermax 1200watts platinum
- Windows 10 pro fresh install/ all updates

Aida64 is an awful test, use OCCT if you don't want to torture it with Prime95. You will also get more performance from going to 4266MHz from 3200 than you will get from going 5.1 to 5.3GHz, especially with such low timings. Although you're far beyond what is considered a safe value for VCCIO and System Agent Voltage, I think unnecessarily

hi @BroadPwns

i forget to put that :

(the memory : i dont know if it is right to do that but like you can see on the screenshot i put only 3200mhz with 1.40v to be sure i will get no issue from the memory when i oc my 9900K)

the memory is temporary time to have the best cpu oc.

the official settings is : G.Skill 32GB DDR4 4x 8gb 4266MHz 17-18-18-38 @1.45volts.

what VCCIO and System Agent Voltage you recommand me to put ?

As stated previously dont use AIDA64 as a stability test use OCCT large data sets for a minimum of 1 hour followed by 1 hour minimum of Realbench, or use Prime 95 Version 26.6 (non AVX) Memory speed really doesn't make very much difference real world once you start going above 3200-3600Mhz, I would be more inclined to get your CPU core clock up as high as you can using stability tests mentioned whilst keeping temperatures at a reasonable level, each 100Mhz extra on your core clock will increase performance by about 2% :)

1.3v on VCCIO/SA isn't really dangerous but it's usually unnecessary.

https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthrea...X-Hero-WIFI-AC

My current board is having issues above 2600, but on my Z170-E I got zero extra OCing headroom from anything above 1.15v.

@scracy

yeah i porefer to oc my cpu at the maximum lol ^^

what is the problem about AIDA64 ? it not make the cpu hot at the maximum ?

i can use prime alone ? or OCCT and prime ?

for Prime 95 Version 26.6 (non AVX). the values i put are right (der8auer value) ? --> number of torture 16, Min FFT 12, Max FFT 12. Run FFT. Time to run each FFT 15.

for my memory when i will found the good CPU OC i will put them to 4266MHz 17-18-18-38 @1.45volts. (i pay alot for that 4266mhz and timings lol)

@The Pook

what VCCIO/SA you recomand me to put ? :)

Hi,
Not sure if 99..k is the same as 8700k but cache is supposed to be within 3 of core multiplier for stability
If you want 5.2 core, cache max should be no lower than 4.9 supposedly.

The problem with AIDA64 stress test is that it is not very stressful, it does produce a lot of heat but thats about it. Personally I use OCCT large data sets for an hour followed by Realbench for another hour, never had an issue with stability by doing this :) Everyone has their own ideas about stability you might prefer Prime 95 V26.6 while others may prefer to use something else, each to their own but universally AIDA64 stress test is no good.

Leave it stock unless you have a reason to raise it.

Same deal with 9900K you should be able to get the cache between 300-500Mhz below core speed however leaving it at stock can gain stability, I run my cache at 4.8Ghz which is 400Mhz below core speed :)
