MSI Afterburner: Can't set the temp limit

Whenever I move the temp limit below the max (94c) it just bumps back to where it was before. Not 100% sure if it's affecting my performance, but judging by 3DMark, someone with the same GPU at stock settings is getting 9,000 more points then mine when it's overclocked to 1,900 mhz. Heaven clearly shows me that my performance is higher with it overclocked, so the only thing I can equate it to is perhaps the heat. My fans rarely go over 5-15%. It runs idle at 61c (regardless of ambient) and underload, it can go anywhere from 72-80c depending on ambient temperatures.

Can we get some system specs and maybe the bench results you were speaking of?

I'll run the test again after my kid goes to sleep and show you. My GPU is R9 390 8gb. I have the drivers rolled back because a couple of years ago, I updated the drivers and it made my GPU work incorrectly. It would constantly jump back and forth from 300mhz to full even when under load. Not sure if they fixed that since, but I don't really want to go through the trouble of rolling back again if I don't have to.

Trouble of rolling back? Use DDU and install the driver you want, no trouble. A wonky driver install can definitely cause problems like this though, it's worth trying, plus the performance gained in newer games and benchmarks. Of course your previous issue could have also been caused by installing a driver over a driver too. It doesn't always happen but most of us have experienced something like that for the same reason.

Not knowing your system specs or the person's that you're comparing it to makes it had to estimate why you'd be scoring lower.
Is your GPU maintaining it's boost speed under load?

Why do you want the temp limit lower?
FYI Heat won't cause lower scores unless it's also lowering the clock speed or power limit. Are these things happening?

I figured as much about the temps, it's just irritating.

Just realized they had 2 cards.
