please check this build and tell me if i can improve on anything

higher frequency monitor = higher scanout rate = lower latency independent of frame rate output
higher frame rate = lower motion blur on persistence based display = crt like motion clarity (the closer the better)
this is the reasoning for my build, with the element of price/performance being considered

Hi,
Frankly I'd go with either a 9700k or 9600k instead of the pigeon poop series.

TwoCables 04-15-2019 07:46 AM

No, I think the 8700K is the best choice for the price and the performance. It's better than the 9600K, and can be overclocked to be better than the 9700K, and your average frametimes will be better as well thanks to HyperThreading.

I recommend replacing the motherboard with the Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO. It has a much better PCB, and the VRM is top-notch.

I don't know anything about the 550W Rosewill CAPSTONE PSUs today. They were at one time a damn good PSU, but today's version is probably crap. I was gone from OCN for about a year, and before I left, they were no longer good or safe to recommend. I recommend the Corsair RM550x because you can get it for $79.99. I can also recommend the 550W SeaSonic FOCUS Plus Gold for $74.99, but with how much better the Corsair RM550x is and with its good price, I won't recommend anything else.

I want that monitor dammit. Argh. :)

shilka 04-15-2019 08:01 AM

The newer Capstone is worse than the old Super Flower Golden Green based ones
You can get a Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 550 watt for $50 with rebate from newegg and thats a far better and newer option as well as fully modular

The RMx by the way is not better than the Focus they are about the same

BroadPwns 04-15-2019 08:41 AM

-9700k as raw core > HT, also more cores + more cache, while frequency remains same. So is the price. I'd replace the case for something else too.

Speaking of which, i'd get something else regarding the keyboard. You can do better with that amount of money imo. Check this site.

I would look for a different brand of 1080 over the Gigabyte unit. I don't know about that card but Gigabyte is know for their CHEAPO Caps and VRMs. I suspect the one you picked won't be any different. If that's the only option or the other options are out of your budget then a 1080 Ti is a 1080 Ti.

Other than that I cannot see anywhere you went wrong. Nice build list. :thumb:

Edit: Looks like I was just a LEETLE LATE to this build party. :D

Nice change on the GPU.

edit:

i can get this corsair psu for the same price as the rosewill, same specs:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16817139210

already ordered the rosewill but if i act fast i can change the order

Dark Side 04-21-2019 04:05 AM

choose some trident z ram and something else instead that rosewill psu.

8700K is a better choice imo, after delid you can get much better temps and clocks than soldered 9gen cpus.
