[Technopat] Ryzen R9 3950X Breaks WR's Cinebench15/20 & Geekbench4

"The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X processor was introduced and freshly overclocked. In Los Angeles, we've just seen it for you. Ryzen 9 3850X with MSI X570 Godlike motherboard G.Skill Trident Z Royal model, 4533 MHz RAM overclocking"

Looks like AMD has thrown the gauntlet down. :D

Maybe wait 2 month and spend more..... ahh man thats hard

5 Ghz on 16 cores/32 threads with LN2 is bad : on watercooling, we will be lucky if the CPU attains 4.5 Ghz.

IIRC isn't 4.5ish what people typically use on a 9960X and I mean stock the 3950X has a higher boost clock too, besides that it's like 2.5x cheaper and likely to draw a lot less power by the sounds of things.

So I suppose it's safe to infer that the ryzen 2 chips just have very very little oc headroom. 5ghz on ln2...

Pretty sure I read somewhere they hit 5.5GHz on all cores on the 3950x

There is smoke everywhere...

By the looks of it, this slide used before they announced the 3950X with a 4.7 boost appears to be comparing XFR frequencies, so yeah probably safe to assume there's a wall at 4.6/4.7. Not sure where that puts likely all core OCs.

If we can push that 3700X to 4.5/4.6 all core that'll be enough for me. along with the claimed 15% IPC increase.. that's a pretty damn nice jump from my [email protected]

16 core intel parts aren't any faster for CB15/20 on HWBOT

With overclocking, the Ryzen 9 3850X was able to reach a frequency of 5.0 GHz in multi-cores, reaching 5.8 GHz in single-core overclocking and 5.4 GHz in Cinebench. Although these frequencies appear to be far from the 7-8 GHz in previous FX models, there is a gap in performance. This processor has 16 cores and 32 threads with SMT (AMD's Hyperthreading nomenclature).
