Team # ... we are still folding for Team 37726.
Frankly, I'm new to folding myself and the Team Folding rules.
We will need to know what PCs you are commiting to the team.
Down the road, depending on who joins and how fast each team members PC are we will be allocating the 8 fastest. With that being said, anyother extra PC the team has can continue to fold for OC.net but wont be counted in the teams production. Total limit to draw 8 for the team of 18 and of 4 total members!

side note.
The Duke ranked 650
thehybridpyro 559

mycomputersucks 04-02-2006 02:15 PM

Official commitment post. I am running 3 rigs 24/7 now that are in tansfer to faster rigs very soon.

The Duke 04-02-2006 02:18 PM

mycomputersucks is now member #3

TEAM "Just Be Cause" Welcomes you!

All we need is that stupendus #4 to declare his membership

steveo42024 04-02-2006 07:19 PM

Im in duke

thehybridpyro 04-02-2006 07:21 PM

so how exactly is this scored and logged?
and what do I need to do, im bit of a newb with folding TEAMS

The Duke 04-02-2006 07:33 PM

OK stevo we have your commitment
Welcome our # 4 folder.
Sorry to you other guys but he expressed serious interst when I first offered to create a team. The other 2 were the first two to express intrest so apparently the first three that offered to jump on board are in

What to do thehybrid? Just Fold
I'll need all of you to PM me the screen name(s) you are folding under and all the PCs you can commit to creat an offical list for the Team Folding director. We accumulate points for 8 of up to 18 total between the four. So even if the extras are not counted for our team they still fold of overclock.net

We should with this group

It took less than 1 day to create Just Be Cause

The Duke 04-06-2006 10:01 PM

Very good effort guys
Get them folding as much as you can

The Duke 04-20-2006 09:45 AM

steveo42024 04-20-2006 03:15 PM

CyberDruid 04-20-2006 03:24 PM

Dang--sorry I missed that one--by 23 minutes no less....Oh Well...anyhoo--if another slot opens please consider me for a member of Team Just Because...since I might not be quick enough on the postings to this thread a PM would work...

Unless my computer sucks offically drops from the team we still have 4 members.

Would you and CyberDruid please post the available rigs you can commit if another member is needed to fill a slot

Anyone can PM a Director

CyberDruid 04-21-2006 11:38 PM

Shoot I only have the two rigs I can run 24/7--I'd add the Northy but my dear Wife always turns it off at night for some reason or another...

The rigs are in my Sig SIgRig and NewRig. I am working on more--but no promises about when they might come on line. So only 4 cores at this point.

I would say you'd be lucky to add SKAnk (with that rankage of 31) to your team Duke. He must have some serious calculating power in those rigs.

Too bad about your Computer Sucking, mycomputersucks--why not fix it and get back in the fold!

EDIT: as requested here are the rigs I can offer up to the effort if needed...Intel P4 3.0E HT curently clocking 3.858 (257X 15) on an ASUS P4P800SE with 2 gigs Corsair DDR400 clocked at DDR412 (2 X 205.8) RAID 0 array on 2 X 250 WD SATA150 HDDs. And the NewRig Intel Pentium D 820 DualCore running at stock speed (2.66) on a 800 FSB ECS mobo with Kingston HyperX DDR2 667 at stock speed on a 160 gig Maxtor ATA133 HDD.

Not much, but it has gotten me to 100 so far...

The Duke 04-22-2006 09:30 AM

Our team is intact
mycomputersucks is mearly have problems with one of his PCs.

Cyber and SKank have the makings of building an aweswom team of there own... just get one started and find 2 more people

The Duke 04-30-2006 08:08 PM

Great efforts guys
Overclock.net is churning out over a million points a month

The Duke 05-02-2006 06:01 PM

Well fellow members, I'm at a total loss, we each have 2 folding PCs currently and I know of no one who has x2 cores and we were disqualified from the April competition!
Frankly, I just don't get it

The Duke 05-02-2006 06:38 PM

NP. I think we have discovered the issue, not to worry

BTW, at this time each of us can declare only 2 each!

The Duke 05-08-2006 01:57 PM

The error on the total CPU's used has been resolved.
Were 9th in the team standings WTG guys, GREAT WORK!

The Duke 05-15-2006 06:43 PM

Bump
Were not Second Page news

mycomputersucks 05-24-2006 01:57 PM

Ok guys due to recent problems with my computers constantly changing and dying I am announcing a full drop from the team. I have turned out 0 points in the last week in a half and feel I do no good to the team being in this situation. I may continue to fold solo but until then my services are no longer available. The Duke, thank you for getting this team started and letting me fold for you but I am sorry I must leave.Good luck to the rest of the team!!!!!I will be cheering you guys on!

The Duke 05-24-2006 02:00 PM

Glad you could help, keep folding when you can and thanks for the heads up!

The Duke 05-25-2006 01:39 PM

We have 2 possible recruits in the wings.
Update to follow.

CyberDruid 05-28-2006 09:46 AM

I am devoting WaterClocker to the team folding effort. P43.0E clocked at 3885 mhz on an Asus P4P800SE with 2 gig Corsair DDR 400 ValueRAM and 2 X 250 SATA RAID.

Thanks for the invite Duke
CyberD

CyberDruid 05-28-2006 09:51 AM

Okay how do I change the UserName in the console version? Do I need to delete it and reload it or is there a way i can just change the user name--BTW what is the exact "username" is it "Team Just Because" or iis it "Just Because" want to make sure it works out right.

The Duke 05-28-2006 09:53 AM

Welcome aboard
Will that be one core dedicated to theTeam?
Please inform Taeric of the system(s) specs you are dedicating.
If your only commiting 1 core lat us know so that another team member can add a 3rd for the total of 8 allowed

"Just Be Cause"
Actually, I'm unsure about the change, I never made a change just left all as is and informed Taeric of the system specs.

CyberDruid 05-28-2006 09:55 AM

Two cores is what you need and WaterClocker is HT so that means two cores.

I still need to know how to change the User name in the console version--any ideas?

EDIT: I opened the config file in Notepad and changed it--that should work...

I will PM Taeric now.

Taeric 05-29-2006 08:42 AM

For the console version, just add the -config flag to your folding shortcut. That'll give you the option to change the settings including the folding name.

You may want to consider whether using two instances on an HT CPU is a good idea. There's a FAQ in my sig on the subject. There are several good reasons to just use one folding core per physical CPU core.

The Duke 06-03-2006 03:11 PM

The 2600+ mobile system is no longer folding, at least here that is but it will be folding somewhere else soon
The EP-9nda3+ has taken over the task!

The Duke 06-03-2006 07:48 PM

WTG people, were up to 8th this month

CyberDruid 06-03-2006 08:33 PM

Taeric: if the concern about HT folding has to do with deadlines--I have yet to miss one--in fact all my projects come in well ahead of their deadlines--with 2 gig of RAM and RAID 0 not to mention a 30% overclock (3858 currently) I don't think accomplishing the projects on time is an issue. That is the only thing I have read in the sticky that would make HT and issue (on a slow machine perhaps) and in IMO finishing WUs is the point behind all this--my two FAH cores are working on entirely different projects--so it isn't like they are redundant.

I fail to see why HT is an issue for dual instances of FAH for my machine.

If there is some other issue I am unaware of please bring that to my attention.

Deadlines are not the issue as they're set so far in the future that most any system can make them. However, the calculations progress from one generation to the next as soon as the prior generation finishes, so the sooner that happens, the faster to overall project progresses. Slowing down WUs to squeeze a few extra points (30%ish) out of a HT CPU causes each of your WUs to get submitted later than the would if you did not run the second instance, and that has the potential to slow down the overall research despite cranking out more points.

This info comes straight from Stanford, so it's not a personal crusade of mine. I'm just passing along the best way of doing things in their opinion, which is something I highly value since they're the ones who put this whole thing together.

Within out team competition, HT is definitely a bad idea because it counts as 2 CPUs but only produces about 30% more points than running one instance that counts as 1 CPU. The above issues aside, you team will get the most points if they can fold with 8 physical CPU cores.

I thought that putting my fastest rig to work doing two instances would be a good thing--I understand what you are passing along and will take it into consideration.

From my point of view there are thousands and thousands of PCs Folding away--some faster than mine but most slower--in the scheme of things I can't help but wonder if it is really holding back the progress of the calculations to be Folding on my logical processor. If I was folding on a 1000mhz Coppermine (which I was until I killed the mobo) I can't help but see the OCed 3.0E doing more for the effort at Stanford even at a 30% reduction in overall production.

What are your thoughts on this Taeric?

The Duke 06-09-2006 05:57 PM

Bump For Cyber, so Taeric, any thoughts

CyberDruid 06-09-2006 06:11 PM

Also wondering when that Team Name thingy will appear on my whatsit.

The Duke 06-09-2006 06:18 PM

Are you refering to this... from below my avitar?

Folding Team Rank: 187
Team Name: Just Be Cause

BTW... all the [email protected] stuff like that and the lil gear icon is wacked and not working in the forum ATM!

CyberDruid 06-10-2006 06:39 AM

yes

The Duke 06-12-2006 02:21 PM

As per PM, get those WUs going and in time the icon will return.
Glad you have things straightened out and hope you filled her in on why and what folding is about.

The Duke 06-15-2006 01:27 PM

WHOOOOT WE ARE ROCKING!

I'll be swapping in the Opty 146 for the 1700+ very soon, hopefully this weekend
That and everyone elses contributions should have us in 3rd by the end of the month, so keep guys!

CyberDruid 06-15-2006 10:44 PM

My pleasure...

steveo42024 06-16-2006 11:37 AM

Yes, any contribution is a big contribution.
If you can only commit 1 core, let us know so someone else can run 3 offically.

thehybridpyro 06-18-2006 09:24 PM

im back running 2 now

CyberDruid 06-19-2006 04:01 PM

Good to hear! I had to dial down the Waterclocker to stock speed--It's about 93 F during the day here--and makes it hard for WaterClocker to stay under 55C. Working on getting an airconditioned computer shed set up near the house--maybe by the weekend...

thehybridpyro 06-20-2006 11:38 AM

i feel ya cyber, my dad stole his AC back from me, so now i have to be a bit more careful bout temps
my room is an OVEN

The Duke 06-22-2006 07:59 AM

All team members, please PM me with what PCs you are foling on the team with. ASAP!!!
Also note any OS reloads.
Please include your current Team rank, ie. The Duke "167"
Furthermor, each team member currently can only offically contribute 2 cores each to the team.

CyberDruid 06-22-2006 02:54 PM

Done--but I will post it here as well--I am only folding on one PC--3.0e P4 w/HT Asus P4P800SE 2 gig DDR 400 50 gig RAID 0 array. My current rank according to FAH is 65 as CyberDruid--I have no idea what rank the Team is...just to clarify: the Only PC I have folding for the team is the 3.0e I call WaterClocker.

thehybridpyro 06-22-2006 05:41 PM

well, im running just the 2.8(@3.4) northy on my ASUS p4C800 Deluxe

The Duke 06-22-2006 06:20 PM

As for the others on the team Just Be Cause... I'm totally lost and getting frustrated with this!
CyberDruids 1 dual core is designated to the team
Stevo is going to try to edit whatever to indicate his dedicated PCs
The Pyro, I don't have a clue with him, he still does not have his icon back yet.

Update, thehybridpyro is commiting 1 PC as of now. Please figure out how to "dedicate" it to our team.
ATM, I don't have a clue as to how!

The Duke 06-23-2006 10:23 PM

Stevo, can you pony up a third unit for the cause, pyro is down to 1 PC!

1x for Pyro
2x for Cyber

Pyro, do you have a compleed WU yet

thehybridpyro 06-24-2006 10:11 PM

ok, my damn rig is down again
i have no clue as to what the problem is, i pulled out my ram, nothing else and now it dont work
but im gonna get a swet opty 165 rig within 2 weeks sooo..

can I have someone fill in for me until i get a rig up and folding?
basically still be part of the team, but have someone else fold in my place until i get back up and running, then i come back?

The Duke 06-25-2006 08:17 PM

If we find someone to replace you, it will have to be peramnent, sorry. I can not ask someone to join up for 2 weeks then kick them out.
As of today we are looking for a replacment.

The Duke 06-29-2006 06:43 AM

We have made a big jump up then a bump down in the standings!
A strong 4th member is needed, thehybridpyro is out of commision and may not be returning in time... perhaps not for a few weeks.
If someone would like to join and take his place, you are welcome to do so and it would be on a permanent basis.
thehybridpyro is aware that if he can't get up and running before a replacement is sought his replacement will be permanent, Sorry Pyro, but I do hope you get a system up and running before we find a replacment for you!

born2killU 06-29-2006 11:21 AM

ill join if you need me

i have 3 rigs folding 24/7

You were the first to respond so, Yes, if you are still interested, you will have to commit 1 PC to the team.
Stevo has picked some of the slack with 3 cores, we may revert to the 2 per team member, that will be determined later.

born2killU 06-29-2006 03:12 PM

alright im in then i guess

The Duke 06-29-2006 03:14 PM

Welcome aboard
Which PC are you going to commit to the team?

born2killU 06-29-2006 03:14 PM

the 3700

The Duke 06-29-2006 03:21 PM

Please respond to the link for the Team Competition
https://www.overclock.net/overclock-n...mpetition.html

Disregard the ''(1 Member Needed)" , the Advanced Edit don't seem to want to change the tytle of the post for me

JacKz5o 06-29-2006 03:24 PM

Do you still need a member? If you do i'll be happy to join I got a dual core 3800 @ 2.4GHz and a P4 at 2.4GHz so its kinda like 3 CPUs total.

Im also asking some of my friends to fold for me , they got a P3 800mhz and a 2.8GHz dual core, just asked them recently, don't really know if they will fold as much as me but its better then nothing

The Duke 06-29-2006 03:32 PM

Sorry, born2 filled the slot.
The darn Advanced Edit does not seem to want to change the String Tytle so it still says (1 member needed) but were a full team, sorry!

You and "NOS---" are looking for a team, perhaps the 2 of you can start a new one

The Duke 06-29-2006 03:52 PM

Team members, Please PM me with the actual screen name you use for the commited Just Be Cause folders.
TY

CyberDruid 06-29-2006 04:23 PM

Glad to have you aboard--just don't kill me...LOL

CyberD

The Duke 06-29-2006 07:07 PM

Stevo will be down to 1 folder
So, if anyone can commit 3 total, that would even things up for us.

Going to be using the rig in my system specs. I just ordered an X2 3800 and will be folding on both cores. It should be here by Wednesday and hopefully running by Thursday night.
