UPDATE!!!

Decided to cool the GPU's in parrallel :-)

Current Phase: Leak testing 2nd loop.

NEXT PHASE: Running power cables everywhere

Volvo 11-02-2010 02:52 AM

Very nice and clean. Me likey.

Just curious, what fans are those?

EDIT: Saw Xilence Redwing.

spiderm0nkey 11-02-2010 02:57 AM

Beautiful work so far. TJ07's will always hold a special place in my modder's heart. It is a long term goal to own one of these beauties. Subbed for this one

Willhemmens 11-02-2010 05:20 AM

Awesome build, looking good.

ironcobra220 11-02-2010 01:27 PM

yo tom put up the photos of my super sexual psu brading configuration!

godofdeath 11-02-2010 08:12 PM

how did you do the mesh on top to accommodate 3x 120?

I ordered the TJ07 from Chilled PC who do that mod for you for an extra cost :-)

The_Rocker 11-03-2010 04:46 AM

UPDATE:

Now its time to show off the brutal braiding work of my project partner ironcobra220 :-)

Most of the power cables are now in their rough places, the slack cabling needs to be tidied and tucked out of the way and the front panel cables may need a little sleeving to make them blend in.

Oh, my 12GB kit of dom gt's are now in

CURRENT PHASE: Deciding where to house the SSD's, HDD and DVD drive. Also customising the SSD's to fit the colour scheme.

This is a demo of where I want the SSD's to live:

SSD's now fit the colour scheme :-)

And here ladies and gents is the money shot :-)

godofdeath 11-03-2010 04:51 AM

yea people end up mounting the ssd on the side of the 5.25 parts or behind it on the other side

maybe you can do behind mobo tray too?

^duh you missed the joke but ok thanks?

godofdeath 11-03-2010 05:12 AM

wait is the mesh just a flat piece of mesh, and not like how the original one work where you can hold fans on it too?

ironcobra220 11-03-2010 06:07 AM

wow nice job makin the ssd stickers red, i thaught it was gonna look crap well done mate

No. Its a recessed peice of mesh which fits into the triple hole and the fans / rad are held on by two mounts, one at each end. The corners of the fans and the mesh are held in between a metal bracket and the casing at each end.

The_Rocker 11-04-2010 12:16 AM

MAJOR UPDATE:

Progress has been halted due to use finding out that neither of the GTX480's will give video or even work for that matter.

I tested both cards in another machine and still had no results. Put a 4890 in the TJ07 and it worked.

Just read on the EK website about multiple users reporting no video/boot problems due to the EK Backplate shorting out the cards. Removing the backplate is supposed to fix this. They are also providing PVC washers to anyone who calls their support.

So I shall remove the backplates and see if they work, if so then I shall insulate the inner side of the back plate with electrical tape.

Draygonn 11-04-2010 12:31 AM

VTEC just kicked... ugh ninja'd

beautiful rig guys! I love TJ07 WC setups. sub'd

Hambone07si 11-04-2010 06:36 AM

yo Rocker, Let me know what kind of read speeds you get from the 2 C300's. I've been thinking of picking another one up for a raid. Just the 256gigs arent cheap

540MB/s~ read across both of them on the ICH10R controller on my gigabyte X58.

Hambone07si 11-04-2010 06:57 AM

540mb/s?? You were not on Sata 3?? I get 370mb/s with 1.

I was hoping for over 700mb/s

I was getting 520mb/s with my 2 80gig Adata's

No, the Marvel controller which the SATA 6Gbps ports run off gave me around 370Mbps because its rubbish.

Performance doesn't double exactly with 2 drives. I figured 540Mbps was rather good.

Look at the AS SSD benchmark thread on here.

But yeah you are probably right. I am most likely maxxing out the SATA 3Gbps ports hench why I cannot exceed 600Mbps.

Ragsters 11-04-2010 07:12 AM

Looks great so far! Did you have Chilled PC powder coat the internals?

Hambone07si 11-04-2010 07:14 AM

Hmm. Almost every Raid 0 I've setup with SSD's has given me around 95-100% scaling. With my Adata's I was getting 265 on 1 and 520 on 2. I wonder if it's because yours are 128's. You said you got 370 off the marvel. Was that 1 c300 or both?

By the way, Your system looks great. You should have way more than enough water cooling for your setup!!

The_Rocker 11-04-2010 07:17 AM

Yeah Chilled PC did the powder coating for me :-)

The 370Mbps on the marvel was with both.

And cheers about the system :-)

Hambone07si 11-04-2010 07:19 AM

Here's my loop on a 980x and 3 480's. I have a triple up top and a single on the back. My temps hold great with this. A triple and a quad should be pretty awesome!!

Hambone07si 11-04-2010 07:20 AM

Did you make those red stickers for your C300's or buy them?

Yeah... tell me about it. I can chuck a rig together in 10 mins but this thing has spread over 4 days so far lol...

And hopefully I can get my GTX480's working without the backplates tonight. I had to drain my bottom loop just to test the stupid cards.

airplaneman 11-04-2010 07:30 AM

Hey man, mind telling me how you mounted the triple rad up top?

I'm going to be doing something similar over the holidays, but I don't have a good method to mount the rad. Any insight would be fantastic =D.

That looks like a sweet build!

Hambone07si 11-04-2010 07:30 AM

Hey, just saw that you only have a 900w psu. I had a Enermax 1050w on my 2 480's and it wasn't enough. I was pulling 1080w with 2 480's at 800/2000 playing BBc2 and FFxiv. You mite want to get some more juice!!

900w on 2 480's is like having a t20 turbo on a built K20 block.

Look at the original post. I have a 1000w Corsair HX1000 which will be enough.

Hambone07si 11-04-2010 09:35 AM

oh. ok. It will be ok as long as your not pushing the 480's that much. I was pulling 1080w with 2.

Not good to pull a 100% of your psu for long periods of time. As in playing games for 5hrs.

I think I'll be alright. :-)

On a different note, my GTX480's are working!!!

It was the EK Nickel backplates which were shorting the cards. Some insulating electrical tape solved that. Will get my project partner ironcobra220 to post the pics of that fix because he deserves the credit for it.

And heres my mounted SSD's:

That is great news! the SSD's look nice

as far as psu's go people forget that Kill-A-Watt meters don't account for the psu's efficiency. that HX1000 is a good choice for this build.

Born4TheSky 11-04-2010 01:24 PM

Hate those "type R" stickers, other than that all good. TJ07 is way to go

ironcobra220 11-04-2010 01:40 PM

This is how we fixed the GTX480 problem:

with that particular radiator grill it comes with metal brackets either side that fit around the 120mm fans, when you get the case roof mod from chilledpc.co.uk they email you a manual with photos to help

The_Rocker 11-04-2010 03:20 PM

I'll link to the manual tommorrow for you :-)

airplaneman 11-04-2010 04:02 PM

Sweet, thanks guys.

Know of any places in NA that do this, or if I can order the parts and do the cutting myself? Shipping my case overseas would be quite expensive!

ive seen a few places that sell that type of mesh but it would be hard to bend it up through the hole and get it flush with the case, hardest part would be drilling through the top of the case i think because its mega thick metal!

when i wanted to add another rad i was going to buy a normal 360mm radiator grill to stick on top, with that all you would have to do is extend the hole in the top of the case then there are already holes in the grill to attach to the case and radiator.

i only know of uk websites but this is 1 of my favourite sites http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/shop/prod...oducts_id=1854

ive seen simular mesh/grill material in shops that sell car mod parts too.
you could probably even use an old bbq grill if your despirate

there was a guy on this site that made this carbonfibre alienware case, i cant remember the name but he had an online shop that sold mesh grills, like cool honey comb style mesh and everything :O

that link was a bad reference theres more types here, 1 looking almost exactly like the tj07 top mesh.

thats the site which did the top radiator grill for this build by the way, i got a feeling they probably used this exact mesh http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/shop/prod...oducts_id=1516

This doesn't look so bad if you got it powder coated. The mesh looks spot on.

Thanks for that Rocker, that is actually a really smart way of doing it..I might just fabricate something similar and just mount a 240 instead of the 360. +Rep.

If you are just going to install a 240 rad maybe this would work. Call Silverstone and ask them.

quick questions about your 480's running in parallel mate...

You have both the inlet and outlet on the same card, I hear that has a fairly noticeable heat gain.

If you have any troubles with unusual temps, move the outlet pipe to the top card.

Let me know how you go.

Forgive me if I am wrong but how would it cause a heat problem? No matter which card the outlet is on, it will still have an inlet as well.

Nah, gonna keep it in my CM690II with some Torx screws holding the side panel on, don't want my stuff to be nicked/covered in redbull/savagely taken out and thrown across the room in a blind rage.

Nah, gonna keep it in my CM690II with some Torx screws holding the side panel on, don't want my stuff to be nicked/covered in redbull/savagely taken out and thrown across the room in a blind rage.
http://iseries.multiplay.co.uk/seating/ < Seatpicker, Login to find out.

I understand about the Case situation, I wouldnt bring Clemens either. CM690 II's are top cases!

I'm sort or worried about my 700D, only having buttons to be pressed to release the side panels but its a bugger to remove anything as everythings under water and theres always atleast one or two of us up to keep watch.

I'll be in B3-A3ish, B3 something, there was a slight mess up with mine and for some reason I'm somewhere else, being moved into there tonight hopefully, if not tomorrow. I'll make sure I come see you guys though.

Also, Willhemmens, you still have that MSI 5970?

Thats cool, I will probably take a walk around all the floors and B3. When I'm near by I may have to shout "Nice Smoking Waffle", thats the code word.

I will sort realy nice pictures and go for the long shot overclock after this weekend because I just need to make sure everything is good and stable for this weekend first.

My friend is considering starting a sleeving service at a cost, he has done 3 or 4 PSU's so far and I took pics for him to show off. So maybe when he has enough rep and has contacted a mod, he might be able to offer the service on here.

4.2Ghz HT ON, 12GB RAM @ 1600Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at the moment :-)

Ran 20 loops of LinX on max, and had the whole 4 days of i41 gaming without a problem.

This looks nifty! EXACTLY what I was hoping to do with my Striker II Extreme before it died, only differ woldb be blue colour scheme. Also ,requesting final pics in daylight Didn't see a buck at the last update.

Tip, take the picture outside - does wonder for the red/black-effect.

I shall do.

This weekend I will be swapping the fans on the top rad for some yate loon ds12h's anyway so I can take some pics then.

Thankyou :-)

I want to replace the fans on the BI 360GTS with Yate Loon DS12H's which I have already but I will need to wait until I unbuild the rig because I can't get to the rad brackets.
