Hi, I just bought 3 Acer GD245HQ 1920x1080 120Hz LCD + Nvidia 3D Vision Kit. I'm moving from ATI HD4870x2 to Nvidia. I need help deciding which setup should I get. Is it better to do GTX 570 3-Way SLI or GTX 580 SLI or maybe GTX 580 3-Way SLI? I know the GTX 580 3-Way SLI will be a lot more expensive. Right now my spec is wrote below but soon to upgrade to sandy Bridge when it's available mid Jan'11 and upgrade my PSU to Corsair AX1200.

Thank you biggrin.gif

3D = Twice the information so in reality its as if your GPU is trying to feed 6 monitors. Go with a dual 580 setup, 3 if you can.

How about GTX 570 3-way SLI vs GTX 580 2-way SLI performance? The cheapest GTX 570 in my country is Zotac GTX 570 which is about 375 USD and the cheapest GTX 580 is Point of View GTX 580 at 520 USD.

GTX 570 3 way SLI will be substantially faster than a GTX 580 2 way SLI. But 3 cards will run very hot. Its your choice. biggrin.gif

Thank you for your answer. So which setup would you recommend? I have a HAF X so airflow shouldn't be a problem biggrin.gif

EDIT : Oh sorry I didn't see your edited post .. hehe ..

When you sandwich three of these cards together, it doesn't matter if you have a typhoon in there, tongue.gif the top two cards will run much hotter. In this scenario, a water block would solve your problems.

I would go for 3x570s for price and performance.

Will I get into video memory not enough problem for 5760x1080 resolution? I'm afraid because GTX 570's VRAM is only 1280 MB

I'm not going for any watercooling because I have to empty the water first before removing the card. It is too complicated for me biggrin.gif

The above advice is wrong. I run 3x 30 inch monitors, it's roughly the same bandwidth that you'll be running. The issue is, in surround and especially 3D, tri SLI doesn't scale nearly as well as it does in normal circumstances.

I have played a ton with both gtx480 sli and tri sli. There is only a small difference between them. TBH, the limiting factor is frame buffer (VRam) and texture units.

I would get 2x gtx580s. DO NOT GET 570s or 470s, at that res you need all the TMUs and memory bandwidth you can get. The normal rules of scaling don't apply the same way.

So yea.... get 2x gtx580 and be happy.
