magnek The extra benefits aren't really benefits if the user doesn't use them and doesn't care or about them. Which as someone stated, is probably 90% of them.

Stop harping on about AI usage or workstation application when majority of people are wanting them for gaming. That just trying to soften the blow for nvidia bending gamers over.
At least they are getting the extra benefits compared to the 5700 series. Vega was the best bang for the buck.

If they split their lineup people would complain they aren't getting a full die. blah blah.

paulerxx I just want to state my comment was not a dig at Nvidia, AMD is just as guilty.

I remember when I bought my first real video card, I was 14...The year was 2004, it came with Doom 3. the card I bought was a ATI 9600XT for $150 ( was $200 at launch in 2003), I originally paired it with a Celeron 2.4ghz..Which was trash!!!! I had 768mbs of ram.

Later on I bought a AMD Athlon 64 3400+ and overclocked it to 2.5ghz or 2.6ghz, depending ambient temperatures, also upgraded to 2GBs of ram! Then I bought a ATI X850XT for the super cheap price of $220, off a buddy of mine! That was the game changer at the time lol.

THe 680 being a true flagship is surely debatable, but it was the top card in its day.
mid tier flagship then and now. Titan step was an epic step tho, anyone who took it will agree.

yes, NV's extremely well calculated response to a flopping @ the time AMD. then the folks say "but 7970 ended up beating 680 eventually!" yes, that eventually is the bit that makes it relevant.

Suckers who bought a 2080ti at 1000USD I have no pity for them. But there also the reason why we have this mess.

2080ti are still 1550-1600 CAD up here. That pricing makes me sick.
Those people who bought those 2080 ti cards can now do much more than just game on them. Hopefully they utilize the other features and make their money back.
I bet 90% of user or more use em for only gaming.
