mouacyk Without a polished die and just relidding doesn't get as good temp improvements:

Martin778 I'm afraid it's gone. I relidded it with LM and glued shut - still the same problem.
The dimm voltage led is blinking like an intermittent contact. I inspected the socket, slots and pcb for visual damages and found nothing.

tatmMRKIV I have been abusing the crap out of my mem slots on my dark and haven't lost anything. literally swapped sticks out 50+ times in the last 3 days. I highly doubt its anything like that.
with these direct die setups you have to have descent pressure from the waterblock or w/e u use as well as perfect install of the direct die mount, for them to work... going direct die on my x299 was some of the most stressful stuff I did in my whole career in this hobby

point is I would definitely give the dark a few more shots.. CPU mounting can be tricky with delids.... I had a good percentage of people I sold delidded 6700ks freaking out cuz they thought their chips were dead, wwhen they didn't know how to mount them properly

maltamonk Agree with the above, specially considering you splurged for the rockit instead of going the $5 route like me. They have some sort of warranty for any damage while using their kit. I'm not saying my $5 didn't work well or I had any damages, but that warranty should alleviate most of your concerns.

Martin778 Don't be scared to delid it, it's very easy. Just turn the screw in the delid tool until you really feel a lot of force and leave it for a minute, then repeat. It didn't even make a 'pop' sound.

Thanks for posting this. I just received my kit from Rockit and will be deliding and direct die cooling mine next week. Looking forward to it but a bit hesitant as it's my first time.
The more videos I find the more confidence I get.

Martin778 I was using the stock AiO mount, just with M3 screws with springs, carefully measured not to overtighten the socket.
CPU runs perfectly fine in my ASUS and the EVGA goes into the garbage bin. I'm suspect those fragile SMD mounted RAM slots, they don't seem to have any support whatsoever and only rely on solder balls underneath. Crack one and it's game over.

Protip - with EVGA if you're not the first owner, stay away, their new rules make rma pretty much impossible now (they want you to write down a sales contract with the previous owner and negate the availablility of the original invoice).
You should test to make sure you didn't damage the CPU by trying a different processor. I killed memory slots on my 3770K when using EK precision mount with naked Ivy and it was the CPU that lost the slots not the board.

mouacyk I do have EVGA, but I am original owner. So it sounds like even with the frame, pressure variability is still an issue. Are only the successful lucky few reporting in?
