The first thing I did was clean the console and wiped it clean on top with a microfiber cloth.
I then removed the stock 40GB 2.5″ SATA HDD, and replaced it with a 120GB 2.5″ SATA HDD. 100GB of extra space is definitely worth it, especially with the size of game installs and the amount of downloads possible from the PlayStation Store.
I currently only have Metal Gear Solid 4 and Saint's Row 2. Both games look amazing and play amazing. I have not progressed far in MGS4 yet, but I've played a few hours into Saint's Row 2 and it feels nicer to me than Xbox 360 because I've always loved the Dual Shock controllers.
After checking out the settings in the console, I have it running at 720p, full HDMI settings, 5.1 Channel Audio, and I have a custom theme which makes it look even better.
The PlayStation Store seems very nice. I'm liking the organization more than the Xbox 360 Marketplace. I've grabbed a few demos so far. I've tried:
Fight Night Round 4
Need For Speed: Pro Street
Mega Man 9
Marvel vs Capcom 2
And I think they're pretty fun games. I'll have to play them more and try out others to determine what my next purchase is going to be.
I think I'm going to be picking up Burnout: Paradise and Gran Turismo 5: Prologue here in the following week.
In the PlayStation Store, I'm loving the PSone Classics section. There are so many games that I want to purchase that I played 10 or so years ago, and I can't wait to purchase them.
So far all I have purchased on the PSone Classics section is:
Resident Evil Director's Cut
I grabbed that because it's the original, and the game is amazing in every aspect. The cheesy cutscenes and dialogue make it an instant classic up there in the ranks with Night of the Living Dead when it comes to classic movies.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this console. I wish I would have purchased it a year ago so I could have built up a better game collection, but that will happen over time I guess.
Here's what my setup looks like at the current time. I'm planning on rearranging eventually, but I'm happy with it for now.
