what's the best way to throttle down how much the GPU is using to try to prevent these freezes? Down-clock the GPU?

If you are on windows, have a look at the event viewer logs > Windows Logs > System and look for the critical error where the kernel lost power, then start working back through the errors trying to identify what went wrong. If its graphics related, back off the clocking on the titan. If you are using a clocking program like Afterburner, it's easy to test out reducing the clocking. I would start with the GPU memory clock. That's what typically freezes my rigs if I run it too high.

A GPU is designed to output data in as near real time as possible. It doesn't have options like % of of cores to use like a CPU. Your best bet is to reduce the Power Limit or voltage limits to cut back on clocks.

Sadly I wasn't as prepared as I could have been this month. Again. (And I forgot to sign up.)

* Main rig still waiting to be put in its DC space.
* Work rig is somehow down.
* Personal rig folded a bit on my i7, but was bordering 90C after 12 hours. Had to shut it off. 380X did well, netted ~200k PPD.
* Tried folding on my FX-8350 Hypervisor but woke up in the morning and it rebooted (likely overheated).

Better luck next month?

Looking to sell your GPU? I'm always looking to add more to my folding collection. PM me.
