Edit: I realised that post probably wasn't really that helpful to you, so I'll be a little more descriptive. The Akg K518's are probably one of the best set of budget headphones that will be easily driven by an ipod alone, so a headphone amp isn't necessary straight away.

They usually retail for around £40-50 over here, but iheadphones have a deal on at the moment with £10 off. Sound quality wise, these headphones will beat the skullcandy's.

I've had three sets of Skull Candy buds. First set lasted a month, RMA'd. Second set lasted a week, RMA'd. Third set went on ebay. I wasnt that impressed with the sound quality either .
