10C temp drop using cardboard 3600+

I have my 3600+ OCed to 2.93 Ghz, it was at 3.0 but I backed it down due to cooling being loud.

as it stood 10 min ago, I was at 2.93Ghz HT 1035 Mhz on 1.475 volts peaking out at 50 to 51C on Orthos. i just finished cutting a 120mm square in the side of my case over my big typhoon where im using cardboard to mate it up with the heat sink fan. to my surprise my max temps have dropped down to 40/41C. let the overclocking continue!

that's awesome. now get a plastic duct tube so you can pull the ghetto cardboard out of your leet machine

im trying to get to 3.1 and its not cooperating. 3.0 is holding flawlessly at 1.4v which is more then what i really need but im only at 42c so im going to fine tune later. ive got it up to 1.425, temps dont go over 44c but i cant get more then about 20sec on orthos. on the bright side 1332Mhz HT seems to be holding nicely! i think i may just end up keeping the thing at 3.0Ghz though i am tempted to see just how far i can push my HT.

O.O 3 GHz at 1.4v? I have to use massive voltage (like 1.62v) to get stable at 3 GHz, but I'm stable at 2950 at 1.54v.

can you post the numbers you used to get 3.0? i'm at 2.9 and i'm just dying to get to 3 but can't quite get there for some reason.
you guys having troubles hitting 3G's especially with more than stock voltage do Not have your ram dialed in...read the threads the info is here...

Nice on lowering temps man...I have also found if you make a divertor for the PSU exhaust that may help also...so it doesnt come around the case and sucked back in by the CPU fan...lol

as of now i haven't reached the unstable point of my HT and i dont know enough about it to know weather or not a 3Ghz core with a 1.5G HT is actually any faster then a a 1Ghz HT.

my ram which is 100% stable up to about 430Mhz per ch at CL4 is only at 333Mhz so i do have some more work to do...

i just dialed in my ram and got what appears stable with about 2 min on Orthos but we'll see with more time. my ran is Gskill DDR2-800 4-4-3-5 (2GB)

OCed @ DDR2-533 4-4-3-5 T2 FSB 333Mhz = DDR2 856

Sandra bandwidth clocked it at 8.8GB/sec and 8.8GB/sec Float

Ive got to get back to work but im going to leave Orthos running and repost my findings when i get home...

someone please get back to me with that info on the HT. will i see any kinda performance off the HT OCing? or am i just wasting my time?

ok so as fate would have it, orthos only lasted 6min on my OCed ram this is of course at stock voltage (2.10v)

The cardboard on that sick case gave me a good laugh.

This is what you need.

This is what you need.

Is that duct expandable (accordion-style)?

If it is, I might pick myself up two (for an experiment): One directly for inlet, and one for exhaust.
