Anyways, what all do I need to do when I get the drive to get it back to manufacturers original condition? I know it will have some sort of depletion as all flash memory will, so I'm just looking for what I need to do.

Any advice, tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Heya,

When you get it, if you have the option, update its firmware (look to the manufacturer if its available). See what the update has, if any, and go for it. Do this before you try to install or do anything with it as it will require you to format it and all that. So plug it in, update it, before you format your old drive so that you have an OS to worth with while you do it.

Otherwise, all you need is right here:

Follow the guide. If you follow it and put your page file and TEMP/TMP files on a 2nd drive, you'll find your Win 7 x64 install to be around 6~7 gigs or so.

Very best,

Windows 7 does TRIM automatically for supported SSDs IIRC.

If not, grab the TRIM program from their website and run it!

So just moving the page/temp files will reduce the install/directory size?

Well not reduce the install size, but it will leave more space on your drive for things that are used too much/take up a lot of space for an SSD

Unfortunately, last I checked Intel still hasn't put up the new firmware.
No they haven't, wish they did allready.

The firmware was released and then removed a few days later because of issues with win7 64 bit according to intel, luckily it worked fine for me. If you want to know which firmware your running the trim one is 02HA, crystal disk info will tell you the firmware version. Some newer drives shipped with the new trim firware installed.

Thank you, I will definitely do this first and then follow the tweaking guide linked on the previous page. Can't wait to see how fast it boots, I will make a video of current boot time vs the new drive and post em here!

How exactly do you install the new firmware? I dont want to mess up
Do you have a HDTune benchie yet? I would really like to compare my 80gb with the new firmware/gskill forum tweaks/fresh OS to your 160gb
