How does the 5770 Compare to the HD 4890?

5770 & 4890 are quite similar in performance =)

The HD4890 is a bit faster (10-15%, depending on overclocks) but is bigger, hotter, lacking in future proof features and much, much, much more power hungry.

The HD5770 is what I'd go for. It's a beast, and it's only going to get better with more driver releases.

I read that that the new 10.2 drivers close the gap between the 4890 & 5770

i agree also the 5770 is a great choice and down the road you could even xfire them.

I have gamed at 1680x1050 for about two years now. The 4850 was the best bang for buck, and it is only 94$ with the saphire. It has enough power to max out pretty much every game, and with the right settings crysis and others still look pretty.

The 5850 looks like the best one for 1680x1050 that is affordable. Otherwise the 4890!

And no GTX 285 on the list?
