For gaming and some light video editing and encoding, which one would you choose if they were the same price?

Assuming the programs you use to encode scale, the extra ~200mhz the 2000 series can achieve over the 1000 series won't make up for 2 fewer cores/4 fewer threads.

1700 will begood for gaming/video editing but the 2600 is better at gaming than the 1700, which i have before, then i sell it to buy the 2600 and i can see difference in games like gta 5 which is cpu intensive. 2600 got better memory timings .

At the same price, the R7 1700 is the better buy. The difference in gaming will be minimal.

you can win 10 fps from the 2600 to 1700 in somes games and 2600 overclock better znd 6 core still work good for light encoding
