Hey iv been using a Samsung 2232BW for a few years now and i fancy getting a new monitor
smile.gif
as i now have room to run a dual monitor set up ( new one as main old as secondary). I game a lot 5 hours a day and watch movies/surf for an equal amount of time.

So far i have found

IPS : HP zr24w, Dell U2410

TN : Samsung 2443BW

Dont have a budget but im not sure if i will notice the difference between TN and IPS id just really like monitor that i can use for gaming and watching movies that looks great(no photoediting) but with the nice 16:10 ratio.

Any help would be genius as my only point of reference is my 2232BW

Why 16x10, might I ask? If you want it for movies you should aim for 16x9 so you have less black space.

once you go 16:10.. it's very hard to go back to 16:9, at least for me

and zr24w is superior to the u2410 imo, i used to own the u2410 (and u2311h) but now have the zr24w and i'm very satisfied

IPS will look better than TN for movies. Brightness is usually more uniform. More shades of black and white. Colors look better.

ZR24w: sRGB panel so you won't have to deal with wide gamut color issues (most browsers, applications, and Windows itself are not color managed)

U2410: wide gamut panel but has a sRGB mode to make colors less oversaturated. wide gamut is not really useful outside of graphic design/photography work.

Here is a good review of the ZR24w and U2410: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/hp_zr24w.htm

The ZR24w is cheaper and still pretty good. Less input lag. For your purposes, ZR24w may be better.

I just dont like 16:9 or at least i like 16:10 to much

, you cant focus at the side of your vision without moving your eyes but you can at the top.

So you will notice how much better will the IPS panel will look for movies ??

Im just worried about the Black level of the ZR24w as i play in the dark half of the time

I vote for the U2410. Used it before and it's a stunning monitor, i absolutely love it. The Asus doesn't look bad either but i can't speak for it since i've never used it. Also i like 1920x1200 way better than 1080p.

^ I can agree with that, we have them for the OR monitors for radiology scans and the extra vertical inch or whatever looks like more then it is.
I wish I got a 1200P monitor in the first place myself.

anyone had the Samsung 2443BW as i got the 2232BW and apart from a little bleed across the top and bottom this monitor is perfect
(at least as far as i know).

I guess im wondering is the £120 worth it for the IPS.
