You will not see the black bars if your watching movies made for 16:9 which most movies are these days.
1920x1080 for movies
1920x1200 for gaming

I agree, have owned both and prefer 16:9 over 16:10. Slightly wider Field of View.

For movies, 1920x1080. For everything else, 1920x1200.

Not true. 1080p is perfectly fine for games. I understand I have a bias, but I'll take the price and performance of 1080p over x1200.

1920x1200 will have black areas since HD movies are 1080p, not "1200p"

I just have a hard time seeing why people like x1080 better. That's over 230,000 fewer vertical pixels than x1200, how is that beneficial outside movies?
1080p, especially for a 22" monitor. 1920x1200 maybe considered for a 24" though.
1080p displays are much cheaper than their 1200p counterparts... The extra pixels aren't worth the cost. I don't miss them.

Well, because they're all cheap TN monitors, though LG wants to change that with e-IPS. Why would a TN monitor be expensive? Heck, there are cheap 24" TNs with 1920x1200, the only truly expensive ones are the MVAs/IPSes/PVAs. You always pay for better quality.

You will get black bars either way becuase most movies are not in 16:9 resolution, things that come in 16:9 are TV shows and DVD and Blu ray tv show seasons.

I prefer the 16:9 resolution though.
ok cause i see thing better with 1200 but the movies are way better with 1080 and i was just won dering which one should i use, since i like both

This.
Movies that are 1080p aren't always(very few are ) 1920x1080...
They are 1920x800 -> 1920x816 because they add more black bars to the already wide image.
This is a 1080p version since it's 1920*XXXx
120 pixels more doesn't hurt the already large black bars...
The only real 1080p videos are those that have a XXXX*1080 image.
Even though the image is 1600*1080 or 2560*1080.

This is how a 1080p should look like, the image is 1080 pixels in height. Though the taskbar+MPc took more than 120 pixels it's now resized on width instead but it's still 1920x1080.

I'd say GO FOR MORE PIXELS!
That means 1920x1200.

I had a 1080 screen for about a day, seemed like someone had squished it. I didn't like having less vertical view in games. Got a 1200 screen which I'm quite happy with (and paid less than the 1080 for it too!), for me the 120 pixels did make a difference, which I didn't think would.
