If your refering to the CPC or Command...
Dropping from 1T to 2T would only cost a few % in performance.

I have heard it is noticable in benchmarks--hard to say what you will notice in real world use--but then again you would be a lucky fellow to be able to successfully change that--I know my RAM simply won't do it...maybe with overvolting and some seriously good (read expensive) RAM you could...

I thought you wanted to go from 2T to 1T--dropping down is no probs and will give you a more stable RAM at OC--and like the Duke said--not a huge diff--going tighter is the prob (with my cheap RAM anyway)

I think that different types of ram act differently. I feel that some ram you get a lot higher than a 3% performance increase on 1T. Its kind of like the raid 0 argument. Tests show that Raid 0 doesnt show much improvement, but users of raid 0 see a very noticeable improvement.

I think that system configuration, and parts used play a huge roll in weather or not you see a large difference with 1T or Raid 0.

Just a theory

useful info!
I fiddled around with 1T and 2T on my computer and by going from 2T to 1T I got about 1000 points more in AquaMark3.
my ram is crappy anyways so i would notice anything i guess ^^ stock timings are 3-4-4-8 and im running them at 2.5-3-3-7, since the timings are so tightened i dont think my computer can manage it at 1t ^^
I lost 3,000 points in AM3 going to 2T. I never notice any drop in performance when running applications
