Two 6600GT in SLI mode should give you a better performance than a single 6800GS that is equipped with DDR memory.
However there are 6800GS versions that have GDDR-3 memory. In that case I think the 6800GS with GDDR-3 will outperform two 6600GT in SLI.
Just this past Wednesday I switched out the old 6600 GT for a new 6800 GS and the difference was in favor of the GS of course. I could play F.E.A.R. with higher settings and resolution (damn game doesn't have a 1280x1024, can't do 1600x1200 with high-settings).
Z_ONE, that is a good comparison in the cards, as to what they have and what they can push but........
Performance wise, the dual 6600gt in SLI will perform slightly better than the single 6800GS. But to be honest, I would get the single 6800GS because it is more future proof and there would still be room for an additional 6800GS later on.
