I'm in a dilemma, which should I go with, 1 GTX260 or 9600GSOs for ppd?

GTX260 216 or 192?
If its the 216 then the GTX260 will do about the same, but better on the 511pt WUs.
The single GTX 260 would annihilate the 2 slower cards in SLI.

Actually, the 2 9600GSOs are gonna be using slightly less Watts than the GTX260. PPD wise those to options are about equal with the GTX260 being ahead. I'd say GTX260 so you can just add one more later.

We're talking folding here.

Which ever I could find cheaper. Probably would be a 192 that I could find cheapest, but if the 216 was cheap then I'd get the 216.

Edit: I want 9600s because they are cheap and so I don't have to pay my dad more in my half of the electricity bill (all the stuff I use goes to my wallet, rest is his) and I could always toss in 2 more if I get the right board... but then I'd need dummy plug(s) right?

OH also, you don't use sli cable right? just put em on?
The 260. GSO's will outperform most likely, but sli/crossfire can be tricky at times, so to save yourself from any headaches, the 260.
Guys....this is the [email protected] section, not the gaming section.

I only have benchmarks on the c216 right now, but it shows them getting 8400-8700ppd on 353pt WUs, and 5800-6000ppd on the 511pt WUs.

A good OC on a GS will get 4000-4200ppd on the 353pt WUs and ~3000ppd on the 511pt WUs

They are about identical, but I would go with 1 card over two.
Single GTX260 216 is the way to go but 9600GSO SLI is a very good value combo since you can get one for $50. Make sure it is 192bit/384mb (96SP) but not the 128/256bit/512mb one (48SP)

Save yourself some posts and state in the OP that the question is about folding if you don't mind.

$170 AR.
In Canada that translates to 250$, out of my budget.

Then go with 2 9600GSOs, but make sure they are the 96SP version.

I edited that in on MadCats request

2 9600s it seems are the logical decision here.

I say find some used 9600GSO's. They will be better on power draw.
