I have a new build and purchased 2 x Kingston Blu 4gb sticks for it- both are recognised in the SPD in the bios yet it only shows 4gb total memory, Windows is the same, 8gb (4gb available)

Pics of RAM and Bios - windows pic shows 2.96gb available as I had on-board graphics on to see BIOS: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0BzGEg1Gp1OnkMWY5dkZhN2Y3RGs&usp=sharing

I have read nearly all the topics and checked off everything - msconfig- max memory unticked, Windows 7 ultimate 64bit.

My motherboard is an Asus F2A55-M LK2

I have uploaded a new folder with images showing both the bios, the RAM and the slots. I now have 2x4gb RAM I can't use

- please shed some light on this as it is putting my head away. I have 3 sticks of 4gb in total and all 3 work in slot A1, if placed in B1 the computer keeps looping trying to post and doesn't start, is this significant?

Or am I best returning the 2x4gb sticks and getting an 8gb to end my woes? I really don't want to have to rebuild this machine again after only doing it last weekend.

have you tried to take the sticks out and put them in, also try taking the stick that is definitely working out and try to see if pc works with the other slot alone to determine if your ram slot may be dead

All 3 sticks work fine in slot A1- have been in and out several times and interchanged, if I use B1 on its own the computer goes on a boot loop and doesn't POST

hmm that almost sounds like a bad or corrupted memory slot but that doesnt explain why
windows can see.

heck i looked all over asus site and cant find any type of support on any of the F2A55 -M boards
no processor support or memory supported pages;

I would contact your motherboards manufacturer for RMA if that is still an option.. It sounds like that slot is messed up

Its a really strange one- I'm not having much luck with this - started off with a 4gb ADATA and bought the Kingston one and thought they were incompatible and thats why I got another Kingston one. Is it possible a bad slot will still allow bios and windows to see it but not actually use it?

I have literally just got this motherboard bundle from Maplin after having to return one I got in November (they wouldn't give me a refund without a 2 week wait- may head down to them again at the weekend, at the minute it works and I've 4gb of RAM but doesn't do much good having 2 sticks of RAM I can't use.

pretty sure it can be that way... unless the sticks are bad. but you already said they worked in the top slot. what is the memory clock and timings?
