Just got 2 WD1002FAEX for Raid 0 for a temp drive. After benching both, one is quite a bit faster than the other. The second one is pulling 10-15MB/s faster read/writes than the other. I've tested with 3 other programs, and gotten the same results.

I've never seen 2 hard drives of the same model with the same firmware vary this much. Should I ignore this or does this seem off to anyone?

- Both drives same model/size.
- Both drives are the same batch (Sept 5th 2011).
- Both drives have the same firmware.
- Both drives are completely empty.

I'll probably just stress test both of them and make sure no bad sectors appear before using them. I've bought a lot of hard drives (~30 in the last year alone), and i've never seen them vary this much. Most i've seen with my green drives was 7MB/s.

I've looked at WD1002FAEX benchmarks and it seems my slower drive is closer to what other people are getting.. and the faster drive seems like it's a rare quality drive or something.
