what is the i difference between the 20/24 and the 20?
could I use a 20/24 on my 20 pin mobo?

the only difference is that 20/24 pin power supply supports both 20-pin and 24-pin ATX factor mobos...
The 4 pins are optional, for possible upgrade in the future to 24-pins PSU.
So the answer is yes...
Although there are several motherboards for PC nuts that are especially picky about power supplies, such as my DFI for instance.

yeah the 20+4 pin psus are actually the new 24pin atx standard. they just make it so you can disconnect the extra 4 pins and use it w/ an older mobo.

that is the best option as when you upgrade your cpu/mobo you'll already have a psu that will work.
