Based on my previous thread I am looking into a good PCI-E GPU in the $225-300 (more towards 225) range. I am planning on OCing. I feel that my next paycheck (highschool job
) would be better spent with some more experienced (to say the least) input.
Ty in advance

6800gs for now if you want 225$ range. There are some 7800gts for 270ish after mir.

If you hold out for a little while longer, maybe a used 7800gt?

The GS is way cheaper and will perform the same as the 6800gt . Hence why the GS replaced the GT in the market place.

ty for the input, just a couple more questions
Should I wait for dx10 and vista, or will it be more than a year before dx10 gpu's drop to a reaonable (for a poor person like me) price? Also, it seems to be that, at least for my price range, ati isn't as good. Am I right in saying this, or did I fall into a group of geforce junkies.

I'd buy the 7800gt now (evga because it comes with bf2) and if you dont game, sell bf2. Then update in the fall when vista is supposed to come out.
