So I'm planning on selling my 4x4gb g.skill ripjaw DDR3 1866 ram @1.5v because it isn't enough ram. I moved from a lga 1366 build and I was using all 24gb of my ram while editing. I plan on getting 2x8gb for now and then getting the second kit when it's on sale/I have the money. I'm able to sell my ram for 60 x 2 dollars, so I really don't mind paying @120-170 for ram, but I don't want to if I don't need to.

Amazon has a $95 deal for 2x8gb kingston HyperX @1.35v 1600. However, it was green and it didn't fit with my cases' color scheme. I looked at the g.skill sniper, they looked pleasing, however as I looked down the line I saw the CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) , and the Kingston HyperX Beast 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) Desktop . The dominator ram is 20 dollars more, however is it worth it? Or is it just cosmetics? Or will the corsair ram will be able to reach the same speeds.

The Kingstion HyperX beast is not a bad choice at all

They are good performing ram to a good price.

I think the Dominator plats is overpriced, just because of the looks.

I would defo pick beast over Plats.

I believe there was a thread about RAM OEM's and which company use which chip brands. If you can find it (ill do a quick search after this), use it to help you make a decision. If i recall correctly, i believe i read something that said crucial and corsair both use the same chip brand (hyinx?) so they performed relatively the same but the crucial was much cheaper.

but anyways, id go with the Kingston. Looks cooler (xcept 4 green pcb) and Beast sounds much more powerful than Dominator

woah woah woah. I did not notice the green pcb. Hmm.. My entire rig is black, and I'm going to watercool it with white tubing in my 600d... I wonder if it'll be noticeable. Gahhhh. (looks at other options).

Edit: I think I found it. :O G.skill X Series

I would not recommend going for Kingston Beast as those, especially the 2400C11 model, frequently have a hard time doing specs.
If Corsair is too expensive, you might want to go G.Skill - either 2133C9 RipjawsX (that use Samsung 4Gbit B-rev) or 2400C11 Snipers (that most likely use Hynix MFR).

I'm pretty happy with the Crucial Ballistix Elite DDR3-1866 CL9 RAM in my X79 platform. Take a look at "The Worshipful Master" system in my profile for some images. The modules are a little tall, so if you have an obnoxiously large heatsink there might be some interference. Modules have an XMP 1.3 profile with 9-9-9-27 @ 1866 @ 1.50v
