So for now my 680 can only push 30 frames at max settings with MSAA 2X and 1080p vsynced (unfortunately) in crysis 3. If I tone settings down to medium and leave high res textures to highest, it does 60 frames which is smoother but not as good looking. I was wondering which one do you guys prefer?

add this option to the poll, because If I were you, these would be my setting:

40 FPS mostly high settings, some medium settings

30fps is just too low and you may experience some stuttering when it dips to 20+
40fps on the other hand will give you headroom in case there are lots of actions/explosions going on and your fps dips to 30.

I never pay attention to FPS...

I set it to whatever settings I want, see how it feels and adjust as needed.

I personally never play with AA because I can never see the difference and it tends to be a hog.

i would most likely have to run crysis 3 on medium with no post processing and motion blur (and no AA) to achieve 60fps or...a smooth experience in general

As long as you consider 30 fps playable, just keep it!
I usually play without V-Sync when the fps is low like in your case. I don't mind playing the game at 30 fps as long as there aren't many dips.

I would play with everything maxed and nvidia FXAA as AA for the campaign, and would tone it down so that it is constant 60 fps when playing multiplayer.

60 frames is a must for me; I hate seeing games stutter. I have a 1gb 6950 with a [email protected] 4.6 ghz and i have to run the game with high textures, with no aliasing, and everything else on low. I'm just really disappointed that the game is so taxing on my GPU. My hardware is getting older, but i should at least be able to run on medium with a smooth 60 frames. I guess when haswell comes out i'm really going to need to get my new rig together.

Just to be honest haswell wont be a big improvement over a overclocked i5 2500k..If anything you should look into getting 2x 760s/2 770s/1 780 in sli or 2 r9 280x/1 r9 290x which would getting a gpu would be a better option for you
