99% of this forum is going to say go with 64bit (including myself). If you want a more technical list of differences between the two check out the link in my sig.
I believe that I should move to a Vista 64-bit soon. Still using a old Windows XP (home edition, not sure is it 32 or 64).
home edition is supposed to be 32 bit only.

You have 32bit. I don't think home was ever released in 64 bit.

Who the heck put 32bit on the poll.

*Readys the hammer of doom*
This day and age, there is no reason not to get 64bit Vista. Almost every piece of hardware out there has a 64bit driver and most everyone in here has 4gb or more of RAM now. 64bit is even good for 32bit programs. A 32it program can only use 2gb of RAM inside a 32bit system but can utilize 4gb in a 64bit system. A 64bit program can utilize however much RAM you have 8-12-32gb IN A 64 BIT OS. It all depends on what you do but like I said, this day and age there is no reason not to. Also 64bit apps in a 64bit OS will be faster. 32bit cinebench can get me 17,000 points but 64bit will give me almost 21,000 points.
IMO... Just grab the 64bit version of Windows 7 beta.

Its rock solid, no issues, and performance is awesome.

It's free until april.

After going to Windows 7, my Windows Vista Ultimate is just setting there on my shelves.. and I seriously can't see myself going back to it...

I'm not sure if you're correct, as I understand each 32bit program is allocated a maximum of 2GB of memory. That's only in windows vista though, maybe you were being non-OS specific?

I'm using x64 XP Pro and like the stability so far. The only thing I hate is having to find soft and drivers for 64bit. Other tan that its a nice and fast os. If I'm corrent 64bit os can utilize/support up to 2tb of RAM if any mobo could support it

Murlocke,

From where, I just checked and all I get is "Sorry, Windows 7 Beta downloads are no longer available. You can still register for a product key or look up the key you've already gotten."

An application has to be LARGE ADRESS AWARE. Not every program is BUT if it actually needs more than 1gb of ram to run on a regular basis, most likely it is already.

Just torrent it.. i'm pretty sure its legal..

If they are still handing out keys then I don't see why torrenting it would be illegal, I think they are just trying to lower bandwidth on their end or something.

The way I see it, Windows 7 beta is free atm and expires in april, so I really don't see the problem.

Much much more than that. If I remember right, XP Pro 64 can use over 100gb RAM.

I just moved up to x64 just for the memory. And so far, the only thing that I can not run is my software for the RAW format pics from my camera. For some reason, Canon has not come out with them yet. Other than that, if it doesn't have x64 support, it will be loaded into the Program Files (x86) file and run in 32 bit. Just go for the 64, you will like it.
