Hey guys, so today i delided my 3770k and wanted to test it on another motherboard since my z77 board in not the most accessible right now. So far ive tested the cpu on a zotac z68 itx and a MSI H61m-p23, neither of which would post, i also tested a pentium g620 which i was able to boot into the bios.

-On the z68 i got a error code saying "55" or "ss" not really sure

-On the h61 i get 4 beeps

Would i need to update the bios before a 3770k to work on these boards or should it be able to at least post?

A BIOS update is indeed needed before it will even perform the POST.

For the MSI board, you're going to have upgrade the BIOS while using that Sandy Bridge-model Pentium. Go to their website for that.

As for the Zotac, I'm pretty sure you'll have to do the same, but without a full model number I can't point you in the right direction.
