3DMARK Vantage results (GTX 260 Core 216 55nm)

Hey folks,

So i finally got my pc stable and running well. I got new ram, as well as this new card:

EVGA E-GEFORCE GTX 260 Core 216 55NM Mirror 576MHZ 896MB 1.998GHZ GDDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I Video Card

So far, I havent pushed the card too much, but got it running 100% stable with FurMark and 10+ hours with OCCT GPU tests @ 710/1025/1510

Anyway, I havent done much 3DMARK benching in years, but 3DMARK Vantage came free with my EVGA card, so i tried it out. Can some of your comment on my results and let me know what I could tweak?

From what i have read, there is a option to shut off the Phyxs to get a more accurate result?

What seems strange is where it compares my system to 100 similar ones and it shows that my result is the worst out of all similar systems???

wow...you were able to push the 260 that far?
good stuff!

I actually benched my rig this week on both 3dmark06 and vantage. Got 22560 on 06 and P16570 on the vantage. So whatever that means...

well just some number for you to compare...i think you are squeezing all the juice out of that 260. just get another one and SLI them and you will be around 20000 points on the vantage.

Ya the SLI is tempting, but i with work and other *****, i probably wouldn't get to enjoy it enough to justify the spend. I am pretty sure this card can go higher quite easily....i achieved those numbers on the first try.
I only got mine to 720/1440/1107...anything else would show artifacts in ATI Tool

Im getting around P13500 with physics on with the sigrig.

You dont mention any CPU/Memory settings nor overclocks but im guessing thats where you need to grab some points. As of the GPU OC, looks pretty good but should be able to push it a little more.

Most of these cards get to 720 core, 1512 shader, ~1188 memory. with a bit of luck of the draw.
Ive seen higher shader settings but it dosnt do good to mine.

p.-s.: GPU fan speed: 89%
max temps ever seen while playing WAR at 1680x1050 max settings for hours : 45

Ya, forgot to include those:

CPU @ 3.6Ghz right now (still overclocking)
RAM @ 800Mhz which is the mobo stock (RAM is rated @ 1066 though, so should be able to push it towards that number after I get the CPU maxed out)

Running the 182.08 drivers on Vista x64 right now.

From what I recall when running OCCT (GPU Tests)...the card got as hot as 69C, but during regular gaming I havent seen it go above 50C yet.

i've tried to OC one card and the performance increase is very marginal. by pushing a single card to the limit...most of them already comes overclocked from the factory...you get a few hundred points gain...that's about it. I actually found my cards in SLI to run smoother with factory settings. But yeah, two cards definately kills one, but the money is always the issue. they guy that holds the highest vantage score has quad GTX295...what a nut!

ya the quad GTX 295 is just stupid silly!

As for myself, I think I am going to stick it out with one GTX 260 for now, possibly for another year, then when I run this Mobo into the ground, ill upgrade to SLI.

Currently, i want get the maximum performance out of this rig, thats why I am curious about the results of others with similar systems.

Perhaps I am not reading the graph correctly, but if you look at the screen shot of my first post it seems to me like my score is the lowest out of 100 similar systems. Which seems odd, my specs are pretty good....

any suggestions?

Good stuff. I'll post my results once I put mine in my sig rig. Swapping out my lone 8800 GTS for 2x Core 216's... I can't wait. I couldn't help but jump the gun when I got them for 210$ CDN(172$USD) each... Especially that I sold my 8800 GTS to a friend for 150$CDN(was offered 200$CDN too, lol). I'll post my OCs too.

yeah now you mentioning it...i do see you are at the bottom of 100 similar systems...that SUCKS! well, what is similar system???

I built my friend a rig with Q6600, 8gig OZ ram, Gigbyte mobo, and GTX260 216. I oc his cpu to 3.2, ram to 1066, and gpu to 675core/1250mem. he only got 15500 points on 3dmark06. i'm gonna bench his rig on vantage and let you know what his score is. I think his biggest draw back is the q6600. the common system now days are all gtx260 running i7 cpu which is soooooo much faster than any Duo, that could be where the points are coming from.

Mine is 14k and change, almost 15 i thnk, it is in my system specs on here, but my core and shader are quite a bit higher than yours so that could explain it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but from my understanding, there is no way Vantage should be comparing my system against an i7 machine, running SLI. It should be comparing it to an: E8400, single GTX 260 with 4gb ram. Maybe they can put me up against an E8600 because of the OC but still...seems wierd.

How does your system compare to similar systems when you submit that score (refer to my screenshot in the first post for reference)??

I havent pushed my card at all yet...going to try pushing it up your values tonight perhaps....what kind of temps are you getting with this card....idle/load?

you have a point... then again, they compared my rig to an i7 with gtx260. everybody knows 9800gtx+ sli smokes single GTX 260 and even GTX 280. so i guess their comparison is not all that accurate.

hey try bench on 3Dmark06 see what your score is.
