Planning to OC my i5 760 to 4.0Ghz w/ p55-ud3p..but, i think this m/board use foxcoon chip and heard that p55 board w/ this particular chip isnt recommended for high OC..is that true? this is for 24/7 system..also, already OC to 3.6Ghz,and i think its stable enough, but idle temp is 40-44c w/ hyper212+..should i be concern w/ those temp?

Idle temps are care, load are the ones that matter! (So please do share temps at load).

Not sure about that particular chipset.
Anyways you say you are at 3.6ghz already, what vcore you need for that?
If you share your OC settings I might be able to help you get to 4ghz. If your cooling is ok!

when i see the idle temp and though it kinda high, i switch back to stock clock..haha..3.6ghz at 1.2v..not running any test yet as these are only bootable setting

will update soon for 3.6ghz speed..btw, how many loop needed for linpack, 20?

Well I'm at 4GHz with my 760 - and your load temp at 3.6GHz is what mine are under 5 hours of Prime95 run at 4GHz - dosnt seem to be working.

But I was wondering, you cooling paste how is that? .. Myabe you got a bit of air in between the CPU and the heatsink so it dosnt transfer the heat away as it should?

hmmph:thinking: how to check the tim surface if it got any air in between?

and, should the hyper base, or the proc surface lapped?

Well it was just a thought, since you are running with that high temps.

If you want to try this - then i would simply just take of the CPU cooler, give it new Thermal paste, and set the cooler back on.

And when you are talking about lapping, it shouldnt be nessersary - it is'nt THAT high a clock though

..

Let me know. Best of luck.

does ambient temp greatly effect these result? my room maybe about 27-30c....and let say got to settle with 3.6Ghz, which volt need to be lowered 1st to find optimum setting? vCore?

Wow .. how can you live with that high temperatures in the room? ..

But in some way they might, yes. Because the computer is sucking in the air that are surrounding it - and the hotter that air is - the hotter your PC will be.

but sir, u got nactua

or does its performed just as my hyper212+??

.. I wouldn't like to have it THAT hot in my room .. its allways like 16-20 degress .. I like it cold
biggrin.gif

But to sum up: It might have an affact on your Temps though ..

@ op"i had a 760 wich i ran @ 4ghz for daily use just make sure temps dont get to high i had mine @ 191 some were around there with a 21 multi the volts i used was 1.3 and it was stable also are you talking about the foxcon socket that people have been saying can burn your chip out and if so i think its at extreme oc's but 4ghz should be fine for 24/7 use i think the new p55 boards have lotes sockets!

Ohh..ok,advise noted

wow, that awesome..or is it while running game? if for gaming, my max temp is 61-63c ( DA2, DOW2 n Bulletstorm)

Ohhh,i should be fine then
cheers.gif
but, like other said, major concern now is max temp

at 3.6Ghz,
max temp:
linpack 25 loops = 75c
playing DA2,DOW2 = 62c
so, should i attempt 4Ghz ???
