4:3 aspect on a 16:10 monitor

Since my video card is being sent out for RMA, I'm forced to use a crappy PCI Rage 3D II... and of course it doesn't support widescreen. I was wondering how I can get Windows XP to display in letterbox so the image isn't stretched horizontally.

BTW I'm using a Acer AL2216W and it doesn't have any controls to do it. I've tried to shrink the horizontal size in Power Strip but after a few sizes down, my monitor auto adjusts back to the default size. :S

Thanks

I don't think computer monitors have the ability to scale 4:3 on a widescreen like a HD TV does.

Scaling was a video card feature in the first place so if your card doesn't support widescreen it's probably not going to support scaling. Also you have to be using digital.

just cut out some cardboard and tape it to the sides of your monitor. same thing
