I know this isn't AMD-related, but it's neither AMD or Intel, so I just put it here.

Anyways, IBM is apparently coming out with a CPU that is supposed to run at speeds of 4-5 GHz.

http://yahoo.reuters.com/stocks/Quot...8&symbol=IBM.N

Inside is a layer of silicon less than 500 atoms thick... that's pretty thin! Jesus...

And surprisingly, they say it should use less power.

But my wallet hurts just thinking about it.

But it sounds pretty cool, and I wonder how well it will really perform at applications, multitasking, and gaming.

We shall see in the future I suppose...

Ah, I never thought about that...

Maybe a mod could move this...

Anyways, that would be great if they make it inexpensively. If so, then IBM might just have to start making more CPUs and kill both Intel and AMD...

But probably not.

But I doubt it will be inexpensive. If they can make it expensive and people will still buy it, then they will make it expensive.

But one can always hope!

lol, that would suck and be a great disappointment.

[EDIT] Sorry, for some reason I typed 5-6 GHz, but it's really 4-5 GHz... my bad. But that still quite fast. I corrected my post.
