4 builds strictly for my office.

Hey OCN, i need a little resource help from all you guys who love to look at builds and products.
I am building 4 rigs for my office, they will all be identical and mainly for performance to get rid of the dells we have now, we are just having too many lag issues, freezing, and intermitten problems with the boards and their usb ports.
So im getting nice processors and VERY nicy memory.
I have the psu's set in stone as corsairs.
I have the processor ram and gcards alrdy picked out.
I only need help with finding nice boards and a chassis for them.
So far this is what i have decided on:
Lian Li cases x4
Gigabyte boards :
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128358
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813128343R

I picked those two boards because the main thing i need at work is USB ports and those have a lot. If you guys can find me a better board or better manufacturer board that has many usb ports and is for ddr2 and has nice overclocking capability, supporting speeds from 1333-1600 fsb that would be nice. Thank you for your help in advance. 775 socket intel. Laterz..

If I were you i'd get this instead of the UD3P, it's the same thing as the UD3P just it has one less PCI express 2.0 slot which I doubt your going to crossfire on these boards. Save you a little money without sacrificing performance.

I second this notion.

If you want longevity, you should go with an Asus board. If you want oc power, go gigabyte.

What cases you going with? That would be sweet, office computers with Lian Li cases, pimpin. I agree with others, the GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R is the better choice unless you need SLI.

Take a look at the GA-EP45-UD3L. It is the same as the GA-EP45-UD3R , without the fakeraid support, which I do not think you would be using. You can save yourself a few bucks there.

With regards to the cases, I have this COOLER MASTER Elite 330, which works just fine to me...

Good luck anyway!
I did a build using a Q9400 with the ep45-ud3l mobo which is a great mobo. I agree if you're not going to overclock then use the ep45-ud3l mobo. Or if you wanna go cheaper then go with the Gigabyte G31M-ES2L mobo which is a micro atx board. Or if you wanna spend $$$ buy the ud3r. I used to only buy Asus until their quality control went downhill. It's Gigabyte all the way now.

Thanks guys for all your help !

Going with the GA-EP45-UD3R.
Inside lian-li cases.

+ rep for all that helped make my decision.

Yeah my boss has agreed to let me build all 4 of our techs brand new computers and take the 4 dells we have and ebay em for a dollar.

I told him i would overclock cpu and ram on all of them as well.
Overclocked computers at work !! LoL i should stick the ocn logo on all of them as well. Funny how your office job works out

I work for ipodjuice.com, milliamp.com, ipodrefresh.com.
I am a technician for the company. All those websites our owned by us.

Google ipod or iphone repair, and you will get us as the top 2 or 3 sites on google.
ud3p>ud3r, even if u dont go crossfire, it has RAID support, better integrated sound, dual lan, etc. Its worth the extra $15. Plus you could use the other pci-e slot for physX. its really a better buy.

So i finally have 1 of my PC's finished.
and the moment i got everything in. BAM 4ghz !!!

These are going to be my work pcs for me and 3 other associates LOL.
Only im not sure if i have my ram setup correctly.
In CPU-Z it doesnt show DRAM frequency or FSB
RAM ratio.
So im wondering if my board just allocated it by itself.
Here is a coule screenies to show you guys what im twerkin with.

Let me reboot and see what i set my DRAM settings at.
See less See more
I have DRAM settings as follows:

Perfomance enhanced : Standard
EMP: Auto
MCH Freq Latch: auto
System memory multiplier: 2.66C
Memory Freq: 1066
Dram timings: auto

In bios it says my ram is running at 1066 which is the stock freq.
I would like to overclock my ram a little more if it is possible.
Anyone that can shed some light on this would be great because
this is my first time overclocking with this board. So far its amazing.
Stability is top notch. Im just so used to nvidia boards.

Set the MCH latch to 333 for best results, then choose a multiplier for which speed you want. You may have to try another MCH latch if you stay at the same FSB but want another memory speed.

Also set the timings manually, they are 5-7-7-20 now (?), set it to 5-5-5-15.

Set DRAM timings to manual and set them to 5 5 5 15.

Also just in case you have any stability problems adjust
MCH/DRAM reference
DRAM Termination
Channel A reference
Channel B reference

to be 0.5 (50%) of DRAM Voltage value.

Thats a very nice computer for work lol...I'm sure people who depend on Dells just to get by are extremely jealous.

Alrigh, I'll be sure and post some pics of everything. For starters I'll snap a few shots of this first build. The other 3 will come later, we just made one for starters and haven't ordered the parts for the other 3 yet. I'm hoping I can land the same hardware and get all 4 to 4ghz.

Here are the pics , as promised.

Whats inside that counts.

Outside the box.

Modded the dvd-rw drive door to match the case.

These are going to be my work computers at the office with my desk.

Hopefully going to make 3 more, identical.

Will keep updating as i go.

Sweet, hell of an office computer. Beats my optiplex 755 lol...

Well my boss finally gave me the approval for the other 3 computers for my office. The first one was a 4ghz machine and for work, let me tell you, its blazing fast and does not know what the hell lagging or freezing is. You would have to try and make it lock up. (having to open databases, outlook express which has to open and index 100000 e-mails,IE and firefox, AIM, and a few other apps, this pc makes it easy and quick.)

Here is a pic of my order for proof that im not pulling anyones leg.

I edited the picture for security and safety reason.
Its the same 3 builds that i displayed at the beginning of my post.
I will get started on these next week and hopefully have them finished by next weekend.
I will post pics of the building ( I know you guys love pictures, and love checking out cable management. )

Then i promised chavez that i would post pics of all 4 builds at my office together! What a lovely pic that is going to be. You can see at the start of post for the picture of what 1 looks like.

Thanks guys for reading and talk to you guys soon !
