If I use this mobo with 4 Vcards could I drive 8 monitors? Would it be possible to make them all one big desktop?
Getting crazy...

Yea, that is possible. Dont expect to do any gaming with a setup like that though. Buddy I just built a PC for has SLI just so he can use his 3 (and soon to be 4) monitors all at once.

I know you can do 8 monitors, but all one desktop? Hmm, something to look into.

Should be able to. Just check the 'extend my desktop to this monitor' for all 8 on the display settings. That would be absolutely amazing I must say.

Although it would be possible, one thing you'll need is very high end GFX cards(after all they are each going to drive 2 moniters) And as bdattilo said, dont expect to be playing any high end games with blazing fps.

That makes more than one desktop, I think CD wants to split it up over multiple screens, but have one huge desktop. I have never tried this since I have never had 2 monitors.

No, I have 2 monitors, and that is what I do, and my firend who will have the 4 does the same thing to get his 3 on one desktop. And a highend card will not be needed. as long as it has at least 128MB of memory, it will be fine. And if they are all PCIe, anything should work really. I can post some screenies if you wish!

I got the dual monitor thin under control but I want to blow away some potential clients with a little overkill. Wouldn't six monitors make a more normal size/shape? Seems like 4 across and 2 high for eight would be really wide but not very tall... 3 across and 2 high would be closer to the aspect ratio we know and love...

Man that would be a killer display.

That's right here in Virginia too! I was reading about that just recently on the UVA website. That's a lot of linux run servers there...

I've seen the Digital tigers site and thought it would be just as good to run it off a solid 4 slot board...
