Mine plays WaW @ 1680x1050 with 4XAA just fine over 60 FPS, 1080p shouldn't be a problem, depending on the CPU

I don't think a 4580 exists. I'm guessing he's got a dual core that isn't recent enough to support the 4850's full capacity. If not that, try new drivers, overclock the dual-core, and overclock the 4850, which you should do anyway.
