I've just come from a 4870 512MB and bought the only card I could afford (460SE 1GB) because 4870's fan was grinding now my FPS are very low. From benchmarks the 460 SE is still supposed to be faster than 4870.

In BF2 I'd get 1000fps with 4870 now I get 300 with the 460

Furmark with 460 SE I get 20fps nomatter what settings- 1280x1024 no AA, 1680x1050 4xAA fullscreen both 20fps max

I'm using 266.58 drivers, and tried on both XP and Windows 7.

I've tried turning adaptive power off and it doesn't help. I haven't tried other drivers (yet) but no one else seems to have low fps with these.

Any ideas?

I didn't try Furmark with the 4870, but at 1280x1024 I've seen lower GPU's get over 60fps. Or is that wrong?
I still don't get why I'm getting 1/3 of the 4870 fps in BF2. The only global settings I change are- pre rendered frames to 0 and single display compatability mode.
Haven't tried any other games yet but as BF2 is old I thought it would be blazing fast.

P.s- maybe its the "threaded optimization" being on for old BF2? Or some other setting idk I can't even try it out right now

i5 750 is at 3.5ghz stock volts 100% stable. GPU is stock no OC at all. This is annoying as I feel like I've downgraded to my old 8600GT card I had ages ago.

CPU temps never go above 58 in P95/LinX and GPU temps never go above 58 in Furmark either. GPU is 23 degrees idle

He probably was lol I know my card isn't amazing but it's still supposed to be as fast/faster than 4870. I'm going to try new beta drivers see if anything changes

I didn't need to uninstall the ATI drivers, XP and Windows 7 are clean installs.

The 1000fps down to 300 isn't for the reason of "I can't play the game any more" but more like why have the fps divided by 3 when the card is supposed to perform the same / better?
