Idk why but my mom keeps saying our new 47" tv strains her eyes. She sits like 9 ft away from it and she says it strains her eyes when watching it long... She says it doesn't strain her eyes when she watches it from 16 ft. Is this a contrast problem or is the tv too big. Cuz me & my dad have no problem sitting 9ft which is the couch area...

If the new screen is a plasma, and the previous screen was an LCD, then she is susceptible to the flicker of the plasma screen. LCD's don't flicker. Older CRT tv's do flicker, but as they were generally alot smaller, people weren't affected by them as much. If all the above is the case here, and the tv is a plasma, she is outta luck. Will have to put up with it unfortunately.

Her eye sight is getting bad, she needs glasses.

Same thing happened to me, I could see perfectly but if I watched TV for over 15 mins my eyes would water and I would strain them, turns out I needed glasses.

I completely disagree, a well built plasma is much better then a well build LCD.

That being said, a lower end plasma will look hundreds of times worse then a lower end LCD. I personally LOVE my 50" LG Plasma, and would NEVER go back to LCD.

Its true, but only because the screens are so bright.

I have a friend with a 47" LED LCD, my bro has a 50" Plasma and I have my 42" LG.
I use my 42" more then I should, many things are just so much better on a bigger screen....Warcraft on a big TV really gives you a more captavating idea of the size of the world for example and since I got my 42" I haven't used my 23" for WoW.

These TV's project a bright image ( and heat ) and it can dry out your eyes if you stare it for hours at a time.... like I do

Umm no.

Umm yes.

Although take into consideration i mean Classic LCD, not LED. LED are better.

Also i never really considered using WoW on my TV, does it work nicely?

Meh, it's all opinion anyway, there's no fact to it. You can't factually say ones better then the other.

Fact: Plasma's better then LCD

She's far sighted. I would suggest an eye exam. Surely it can't hurt.

Does she get fatigued when she's reading small print like a book or magazine?
