Okay so i have the CCC this is the first time i play around trying to overclock the card. Ive had it for about a year? i dont really remember when i got it. Its a powercolor 4850.
Anyways I go into CCC and the fan is running at 40% and the card temp is 60c!

The gpu clock is at 500mhz and the memory clock is at 750mhz.
How exactly do i overclock it with the CCC ati overdrive.

You click the key at the near upper right side of the windows to unlock it. Then you can select it to find the highest safe overclock.

4850' do run hot, very hot, try putting a case fan near it.
Your clocks are kind of low...

My stock clocks are gpu 625MHz and memory 993MHz. Enable manual fan speed control, crank it up until it's idling in the low/mid 40s, then go from there.
I have done the unclocking thing. However everytime i change the clocks and i press apply, the currrent values stay the same.

Also is it okay for the card to run that hot?

it underclocks when it is idling, get this and run 3d view for the clocks to go back up and it is a great stress tester. this card can survive up to 100c but i wouldn't let it get above 80c during full load.

Use riva tuner so you can put your fan to 100% and its a better OC app, or you can flash the BIOS so it is always at that speed. 60c seems kinda hot, is that your idle temp?

I dont know, Im not to familiar with overdrive. Did you check your OC with GPUZ? Seriously though you will have better luck with Riva 224 MSI 2009
The 4850 was designed to run around 95C load so your temps are fine. The 500mhz you're looking at is the cards 2d clock, when it goes to 3d mode it'll be at 625mhz core
If you have better air circulating, you'd see temps, with 50% fan, around 40-45c on idle. That's what I used to get with my 4850.

I use Riva tuner for Overclocking my 4850. My 4850 is the MSI one with the fan that is stuck at 100%. With my clocks at 730/1050(24/7) I usually don't go over 60c even running furmark extreme burning for an hour +. But my case is open and layed on its side. I would turn that fan up and Oc the hell out of it. With my card 730 is about the max. I have pushed it to 750/1050 and had a tiny bit of artifacting in furmark. Depends on the card i guess on how far you can push it before issues. Pushing the memory over 1050 causes issues though like 5 consecutive VPU recoveries then a bsod.....
