4890 Upgrade to 5870 (Before & Afters)

Hello everyone, I am now definately getting a 5870 on Saturday (It's my birthday

) and so I thought I would post some before and after benchies of my rig, so here goes and if you would like any extra benchmarks go ahead and ask before Saturday and i will do my best to get them done.

Its weird, your 3dmark06 score is pretty low

with my sigrig I get 27600, but I know there's not that much of a difference between the 5870 and my 4890's

I get the feeling it may be these latest drivers, I've heard that they can take the edge off 3DMark scores, I'll load up the old ones and give it another shot tomorrow, I'll disable my second monitor too and see if that helps any.

thats with a single 4890, he hasnt done the 5870 benches yet

I still get the feeling that my score should be higher from this one card, I know I've managed it in the past so i do get the feeling it may very well be these drivers that are doing it.

Hmmm, well, i ran the bench again and i got roughly the same score, I'm not quite sure what it is that I did to get my old score, it may have something to do with the new-found 3DMark 06 instability at 1ghz GPU but who knows.

Your 01 could be alot higher, but the rest of your benches look fine.
Have fun with the 5870. I look forward to seeing some results.

I have just added some of the "afters" into my first post, the rest will be coming very soon. I must say that I am very pleased with this card, I can now run every game I have maxed other than AA and I think both my 06 and 01 scores could be a lot higher with my new card as while watching the GPU usage while running them it was never running at 100% so it must be bottlenecking somewhere, but unfortunately I dont think I will be getting to solve that particular problem at this time.
